Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 210
From: Master Moltar | Posted: 8/21/2005 11:14:29 AM | Message Detail
At 11:10, this match has 45131 votes

Lloyd/Wesker - 45300
Samus/Yuri - 43892
DK/Fisher - 46284

So yes, it's as bad as everyone is saying. This poll is looking to barely break 85K.

And I was hoping Lloyd was a bit stronger, but oh well.

SC2K5: Samus is going all the way!
Zero vs. Lloyd - Bracket: Zero - Vote: Lloyd (30/34)

For what it's worth, MC 2k3 would get 30.87% on Samus 2k4. Take it as you will.

Also keep in mind that Diablo got linkage against Kefka but not Kratos, so you might want to account for such; whether it makes Diablo based on Kefka too strong or Kratos based on Diablo too strong, it's your call...also be your own judge of how much of an effect it had.

It's very minimal either way. Even 3000-5000 extra votes wouldn't change the percentage by more than maybe 1-2%.

Right, I'm not sayin' it's a huge difference; I thought I'd throw it out there for those who thought it was a big difference-maker though and to show it was gonna be THAT much harder for any ToS rep to break 35%, much less Lloyd.

For the record though, I assume Diablo probably got a lil' over 1,000 votes in his matches that got linked from www.diabloii.net (that's my guess, anyways, if my GFA experiment carries over well enough for this).

This "gauntlet" should be very interesting. I've got Ganon, Snake, Alucard, Tidus and Bowser. I'm confident, but I'd settle for 4/5 right now, particularly if the one I miss is Tidus.

I think the only match in the "gauntlet" that will live up to expectations is Alucard vs Sora. MAYBE Tidus vs Kirby.

I've got Ganondorf, Snake, Sora, Tidus, Ryu, Dante.

Ganon/Auron, Ryu/Bowser, and Dante/Vincent will live up to expectations.

Summer 2005 Contest - 30/34 points
Current Match Prediction: Zero vs. Lloyd Irving
From: therealmnm | Posted: 8/21/2005 12:03:40 PM | Message Detail
I have Ganon, Snake, Sora, Tidus, and Bowser. Anything less than 5/5 is not good enough, as I still plan on winning this thing.

I already have 2 more points lost with Magus losing to Knuckles, so I'm HOPING that Knuckles beats Squall to take more people down, since the outcome of that match doesn't affect me.

After Ganondorf's impressive performance in the Spring and the fact that it is likely that he was about as strong as his 2K4 numbers suggested due to Collector's Edition, I'm feeling confident Alucard will take down Sora without too much trouble.

For the record though, I assume Diablo probably got a lil' over 1,000 votes in his matches that got linked from www.diabloii.net (that's my guess, anyways, if my GFA experiment carries over well enough for this).

For his first two matches, maybe. Against Kefka though, the link was posted a couple of days beforehand as an afterthought. It was basically a bunch of other news, followed by something like "I'm going to be on vacation, so remember to go vote for Diablo in a few days." I doubt he got more than 500 from the link against Kefka.

I think Solid/Zelda and Tidus/Kirby are the two least likely to be barn-burners, though I also think those are the two most likely to make for a huge upset too.

Anyways, time for me to pack my computer up and go back to college today. I should hopefully have access again tonight...and the University of Tennessee > us all (myself included). =)

I'll throw out my thoughts on the "big matches of round 2".

I'm not expecting Snake/Zelda to live up to expectations out of that group. If Snake gets less than 55%, I'd be fairly surprised.

Ryu/Bowser should be really fun. Ryu should take the early lead, (he managed to lead against Sonic early on) and then everybody will be waiting for the "Nintendo day vote" to bail Bowser out (which hopefully doesn't come). We may see three big lead changes that day. (First night for Ryu, day for Bowser, second night for Ryu)

Ganondorf/Auron... I have a feeling that Auron may just run away with this one from the onset and never look back. The shock on the board would be... priceless... if this were to happen.

Kirby/Tidus I think will be a nail-biter. I think Kirby will barely edge Tidus out in the end, but I'm thinking this one will be the closest of the 6 big matches. This also has the possibility of the three big lead changes that could happen in Bowser/Ryu.

Alucard/Sora has two possibilities the way I see it. 1. Sora beats Alucard by more than we (or most of us) were expecting. 2. Another nail biter. I'm hoping for 2.

Dante/Vincent should also be great fun. I'm expecting Master Chief/Frog version 2... well in a way. I expect Vincent to jump out to 70/30 with the board vote, gain slightly over the night but lose gobs of percentage, and then... *gasp*... lose the day vote. I know that sounds crazy, but I'm thinking Dante could take it from him. I'm not expecting a 7 vote margin of victory or anything, Dante should win pretty comfortably... heh heh.
---
And yes, I'm completely disregarding where that Snake/Zelda % "places Vivi"
