Heh, I just realized how little I used the X-Stats in my bracket. In fact, I mainly just use the things to argue with you people.

Auron > Ganon. Dante > Vincent. Ryu > Bowser. Tidus > Kirby (Depends what X-Stats you use). All of these are X-Stat upsets, some bigger than others. In fact the main match I used the stats on was... ironically, Squall/Magus, to find a reason to contradict the X-Stats.

I know this is "old/10" I'm sure, but it's hilarious that we don't even have a 1 bracket this year. Wouldn't it be great if we somehow lost the 2s in round 2? Heh.

as for Ness: day-um. I thought he'd at least break 20%; he's getting absolutely stomped. he's at 12.06 on 2k4 Mario, putting CJ at 10.82. that's awesome. Yuri's got a chance at not finishing last in the unadjusted stats here.

If nothing else, this match shows us just how much of Ness's strength comes from Smash Bros. At this rate, I wouldn't have any trouble believing Roy and Marth being stronger than Ness.

Auron did better on Scorpion than Zero did. I think he's underrated in the stats. I still think Ganon takes a close one. I think it will be similar to the Ganon/Magus match, only with Ganon on top.

Of course Auron may end up flopping, but we don't know for sure.

I still think Ganondorf will take it, sure Auron did marvelous on Big boss, but Pacman won over Ocelot who should be stronger than Big Boss.

BTW what is 2k4 Pacman expected to get on 2k4 Auron?

Bingo. Ganondorf underperformed twice in his last two round 1 matches, and Auron was never adjusted for the likely SFF in Cloud/Sephiroth.

Zelda beating Snake would be due more to the entire Zelda representation getting a boost between 2003 and 2004 than Snake dropping off the face of the planet (evidence: Ganondorf staying around his 2003 levels when Magus was overrated to hell and back).

If either happens, it makes perfect sense and doesn't have anything to do with the stats sucking. Just thought I'd preempt the whining.

I highly doubt Pac-Man's 2004 value is the right one (Auron would get 75.73% on that one, by the way), so I'll use his 2003 value instead.

Auron would be expected to get 66.74% on Pac-Man.

I find it really hard to believe CJ can be THAT low, too.

Sephiroth was victimized by a lot more bracket-voting than in 2003. I'm sure of it.

Mario's Path to Victory: Round 2 - (4) Ness

First of all, if there's any justice in this world, then Donkey Kong would absolutely annihilate Ness.

The Auron vs. Ganondorf match I think should be interesting, but not as close as most people expect. It could go either way I think... but it will be more of a match that goes either way with a 55% over 45% -ish result I think. It won't be quite as close and exciting as yesterday's Pac-Man over Revolver Ocelot.

Sora/Alucard should be close too, and Ryu/Bowser might as well, but I'm not sure I get where everyone comes from in saying that Zelda might de-throne Solid Snake in the Gear Division... granted, I wouldn't mind seeing that at all, but I don't seem to think it has as much of a chance of happening as most other people do.

Nice to see Mario putting up a great performance, SFF or not. It's not often that I can see him put up 80%+ performances like this. <3

But I'm looking forward to a number of second round matches, particularly Auron vs. Ganon. I like both so seeing either win would be great, with a slight lean toward Auron for having a more accurate idea of where Ganon stands and then a slight lean toward Ganon due to my bracket switch, which I'm regretting at this point.

Vincent/Dante will be amazing, if only for Vincent's domination of him. Heh.

*grin* Honestly, the only problems I've had with the X-Stats over the past couple of contests were the way that the 2k3 values for Ganondorf/Magus/Tidus were plugged into 2k4, and Auron being terribly underrated. Among this year's main bracket, I can't see him ranking any lower than 8th in the final adjusted standings, and I think it's about damn time.

I happen to believe Tifa will win that one, but the explanation for it would have to wait. Even with Luigi's "newfound" strength, I would have never guessed that he'd be able to beat Tifa in a match. She's got everything necessary to pull that one out, I think.

By Auron = 2k4 and Ganondorf = Sp2k5, Ganondorf wins w/ 61.94%, making Auron the weakest of the four FFX entrants in the bracket.

I really would like to see that, to bad it won't happen.

My guess is that Luigi gets 41% on Tifa, but then again I'm not good at predicting in the summer contests, I'm better with spring contests.

On that note, does anyone know what the next Spring Contest is? They should have a Female Character Battle I think, only with 32 characters, but then immediately thereafter another Villains battle also with 32 characters, so instead of one 64 Character Battle it would be two 32 characters battles.

It seems very likely to be a Female character contest, but we don't know anything yet. We are not even sure if there will be another Spring Contest. I hope for a best platform character contest.
