The Ganon/Zelda support has been a constant over the first round. Seems like people are putting more faith in them when Link isnt around.

I think it's more that Ganon was the runner up in the Spring Contest.

Wouldn't it be funny if he's getting the so-called anti-champion votes in his matches? :)

Why would a character's strength increase by any non-neglible amount due to someone else not being in the tournament? Do you honestly think a majority of these voters studied the bracket before voting?

2. Super Smash Bros. Meleee over Vice City: 22.03%
3. Frog over Master Chief: 22.56%
4. Magus over Ganondorf: 24.20%

(Note: I'm going to throw round 2 of the Spring Contest, which includes Diablo > Bison and Robotnik > MH, in with the Sweet 16, count MH > Kuja as the 1st round, and pretend there never was a second round. So there.)

We're not going to hit it with this match, obviously, but we could see a good deal of matches end up in here.

I still don't get why people are saying that people voted in the Spring Contest different because it was a Villains Contest, or because of the absence of the heroes.

First of all, if the absence of the heroes were really a factor, then Sephiroth should have gained from Cloud not being there too, right? Second, the contest was STILL a popularity contest as listed in the rules. People voted in the same manner that they did in any other contest.

Besides, if people voted on who was the better villain, then why would BOWSER overperform on SEPHIROTH with all the FFVII fanboys lurking around? As much as it would please me, I highly doubt they would correctly choose Bowser as the better villain.... <_<

Ganon's got himself into a lose-lose position. Either he loses to Auron, or has to face Samus and get SFF-raped. I won't be as bad as against Link obviously, but I don't think it will be pretty.

Ganondorf will do surprisingly well against Samus. Surprisingly well if you expect extreme SFF, anyway.

I wonder: if Zelda and Metroid were made by different companies, would anyone call Ganon/Samus SFF? they're two totally different games with only Nintendo in common.

meanwhile, we've got Tifa/Vyse which are both RPGs, yet it's not SFF because it's two different companies.

I'd agree with about 25% for Ganon, except that Ganon won't be in that match anyway so his fans won't have to see him bomb again.

Reminds me of Link vs Mega Man SFF. Which most people seem to still be undecided on the existaece of. But no, if they weren't both from Nintendo, I don't think Ganon would do quite as badly.

Holy - ****in' - ****; I had to nearly kill somebody to defend my brother tonight. I'm...still stressed, to say the least.

1) I'm so glad Pac-Man took down so many brackets with him, and it never hurts that both the perfects and the 1's were completely eliminated; that rules.

2) Ness is gettin' stomped, but at least we're learning something anyways (though I think many of us thought it already); he's obviously gettin' SFF'd like he did against Bowser in 2k3. However, at least opposed to what I predicted for today's match, you can't "only be SFF'd so much from one series." I knew Mario is very much stronger than Bowser, yet I still didn't think Mario'd get over 80% against Ness. I figured most Mario fans would have already abandoned Ness for Bowser, but I suppose that's not the case here...then again though, I'm workin' with two-year-old data and the ever-tricky SFF, so maybe I'm not all that off...

...for what it's worth though, using 2k3's stats of SFF'd Ness VS Mario, Mario should have 79.78% of the votes in this match. The higher Mario stays and assuming things are still stable with Ness/Bowser/Mario from 2k3 to 2k5, that means the more people that have preference of Mario > Ness > Bowser than I once thought...which seems somewhat weird to me, though certainly not impossible.

3) I'd predict Ganon to just barely get under 35% against Samus.

Now see, I don't know who thought SFF had its limits based on who is from what game, but I've always believed that SFF would be greater if the characters were further apart in strength to begin with. Seems pretty clear to me here.

A match pic isn't going to make up enough of a difference for CJ to have won. CJ just got his ass whipped.

And the wedding is tomorrow. I'm only going to be on for a little while this morning, then I have a rehearsal lunch before getting started on all the good stuff.
