They are 500 votes less than Lloyd/Wesker, so they are sucky.

Ocelot's increasing slightly...and these vote totals really seem sucky.

The characters aren't exactly big draws.

I can't think of anything to put here, but I can't just leave it blank, can I?

Yeah, but Magus/Frog don't do nearly as well as Crono, as we have now seen. They have the loyal CT vote to an extent (as Frog has certainly shown), but they don't measure up to him. I guess I was just talking about a more drastic main character to side character/villain relationship, though it makes sense in Snake's case since he and his game are much weaker than Crono and CT.

As in, that's not the only reason that he gets votes. Snake in a different game > Crono in a different game.

Its funny that games that you think would have a huge difference in character strengths like Link/Gannondorf/Zelda and Mario/Bowser/Yoshi seem to be much less than other games not named FFVII or FFX.

If Snake and Crono were only in one game, the same game. as dual leads, Snake would SFF Crono worse than Raiden, buh-lee dat.

Raiden fact of the post: Raiden would also SFF Crono if he were in that same game.

No the only reason Snake gets votes is because he is the lead in MGS. His personality might tend to be build on it a bit, but the #1-#12 reason Snake gets vote is simply he is the lead of a beloved game series.

this is true of all game characters - for example, Yuri is a rude hero a la Cloud and he got absolutely trashed.

Well, Link/Ganon/Zelda and Mario/Bowser/Yoshi have a big repository of games to draw their strengths from. Ocelot isn't prominently featured in either MGS1 or MGS2, but instead is a more insidious villain behind the scenes. He's very prominent and popular in MGS3--but lo and behold, he looks completely different AND he's called by a different name (Major instead of Revolver). All being said, I'd wager Liquid would be much stronger and closer to Snake's level if he had been the main villain through the three MGS games.

Actually, I'd wager Snake would be stronger if he actually got to be the main playable character in a game again one of these days. = P

Exactly, EVERY character rides the coattail of their games. Just not every side character rides the coattail of their main character the same amount.

Well, yeah, I thought that was obvious. But the role that the character plays in a game is obviously going to benefit how much they benefit from their game--not to mention how well they're identified with their game.

A good of example of this would be...well, presumably Kerrigan.

Just to note, no other character took longer than 10 minutes to gain an 100 vote lead. Its taken Ocelot at least an hour and 15 minutes.

See now, it's results liek this thta make me wonder why people can tell me with a straight face that there was no SFF between Link, Yoshi, and Luigi and believe it. Of course, those same people told me that there was no SFF between Auron and Cloud or Bowser and Ness (and, iirc, Kefka and Crono as well). Heck, next we'll learn that Mario and Samus were both SFFed by Link.

I wonder what would happen if we took characters' x-stat value and divided it by their game's. it would be an entertaining way of finding out who the strongest character in in proportion to how popular their game is. unfortunately, a lot of characters have multiple games and/or no game in the game contest (I'm looking at you, Mega Man), so it'd be useless.

Well, Ocelot started with Pac winning. Its been quite tha battle, but I'd say Ocelot has this in the bag now. He's too cool not to win.

And Ocelot is better than Liquid Snake and Big Boss. And, oddly enough, Pac-Man. ;-)

"Wait, they weren't?"

According to cn and a few others (slowflake, ya?) they weren't. Accordign to me and a lot of others they were. It's pretty well split now, though in the past it used to be the group that didnt believe there was SFF was larger.

You do know he is still gaining at a slower rate than Kefka and he didnt get that early 400 vote cushion Kefka had. This will be under a 700 vote contest by daybreak.

I thought they were at first, but Crono getting so close to what Mario got on Link after beating Mario really made me wonder.

Of course signs point to 2002 Mario > 2004 Mario, so who knows what to make of it?

And I'm guessing the vote totals for this match will be abysmal. x_x

Hey, I know it's "duh", but that was my point. Crono clearly mooches off "main character status" more than Snake does. Put Crono's character in Frog's position in the story and he's not going to be the strongest character, or even close to it.

Put Snake in Raiden's position? I actually think he might still be the most popular.

Ah, an excellent point. In fact, I think Crono leeches off of that factor more than anyone else I can think of right now.

On another note, you've beaten Ninja Gaiden. How the F do you beat the last boss? I can't even hit him!
