KOS-MOS is around 20% on BL

Do I really have to point out how totally lacking in logical structure this post is, even in a sarcastic sense...?

It made sense. He was pointing out how silly it is that people think KOS-MOS would drop from a new game, yet Vyse HAS to stay consistent because he has for two years. Never mind the fact that Lara Croft was also consistent for two years then suddenly dropped in 2K4.

Heh heh heh... KOS-MOS drops with a new game, but obviously Vyse dropping, nah, not a chance. He was consistent for all of two years! No one, surely not Lara Croft, has ever been consistent for two years!

Vyse vs Tifa was a vet vs newbie match. This is a vet vs vet match. It is possible that Vyse dropped, but there is no evidence that he actually did. Since he's stayed fairly constant during the previous appearences, he's given the benefit of the doubt and assumed not to drop.

Yes, that doesn't make Luigi the clear favorite against Tifa. It doesn't even make him the favorite.

It made no sense at all, as it was comparing two totally unrelated things, just to support his "point".

Many speculated Luigi was underestimated and that KOS-MOS may have dropped.

Find me one person who stated beforehand that Vyse dropped.

Really, if you find this to be "logic", you are quite blinded by some sort of bias that I can't figure out.

Wait, you said logical structure, implying that the sentence was incoherent. I was pointing out that I understood the sentence, indicating it does indeed have a logical structure. I didn't say anything about agreeing or disagreeing with him.

And also right now Tifa's stock probably isn't as high as a static Vyse calculation would indicate.

i.e., in the Oracle challenge (or if brackets were still open), people would not fully support the position that a straight-up Tifa/Vyse calculation has Tifa at. I think she'd still be an underdog against Crono, for one thing.

Though she would be favored over Sonic.

Mario is Winnar

From: Lopen | Posted: 8/15/2005 12:41:37 AM | Message Detail
This is the most logical explanation.

KOS-MOS 2k4: 24.24 on 2k3 Link. Xenosaga Episode 2 gives her a Devil May Cry 2 esque boost (the parallels are undeniable!), for roughly 3%.
KOS-MOS 2k5: 27.24 on 2k3 Link.
Assume KOS-MOS goes down from the "Infamous Nintendo Day Vote". Luigi finishes with 68%.

Luigi = 42.56% on 2k3 Link. Now we're cookin.

Oh, and by the way...

Find me one person who stated beforehand that Vyse dropped.

Find me one person who stated beforehand that Lara Croft dropped? She also had no reason to until after the match took place. Call the comparison irrelevant all you want, but it seems pretty familiar to me.

Though even the logical structure itself was poor, IMO.

This is the most logical explanation.

How can you call it logical, when no one would actually ACT on it.

Find me one person who stated beforehand that Lara Croft dropped?

Eh...?

The Oracle prediction for Samus was a full 5 points higher than the straight-up 2K3 x-stats implied. Clearly people had little faith in Lara to begin with. And people often referred to Lara as "fading" before the contest.

It's perfectly logical. In fact I think I was undershooting his final %age. After all, Ness gained 3% during the day against Auron. As we know, Auron > KOS-MOS and also Luigi > Ness. Therefore, if anything, Luigi should rise more. I'm guessing 71% myself.

Character strength has little to do with potency with particular times of day. Luigi lost a large chunk of the vote in the day against Ratchet of all characters.

And people often referred to Lara as "fading" before the contest.

Well, in any case, I don't consider the speculations of random people to have much merit. There's no logical reason she'd be "fading" any more in 2k4 than she was in 2k3 or 2k2. And she actually rose a bit from 2k2-2k3.

Just because speculations exist doesn't mean they have any merit.
