Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
http://sc2k5.com/drupal/node/11

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

HM, don't call EarthBound mediocre until you actually beat it and have a valid opinion of the game.

I don't need to know the game's storyline to understand that it as a whole is rather lackluster. The battle system is pure ****, the music just isn't worth speaking of, and the humor is virtually non-existant. I don't play games for story, unlike yourself. I need it to actually have good everything else before forcing myself through such a boring and dull game. I have tried five times and it has done nothing for me.

I don't care what kind of "amazing story" you want to come up with, because I'm not insulting its characters or its storyline.

Which explains why you love Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 8.

Actually, those two games have a great story combined with great gameplay. You don't need one or the other, you need both in order to make a good game. It's absolutely ridiculous to think a games storyline is going to make it a superb game when everything else about it is just horrible. If that's all you need to make a game good, by all means don't let me stand in your way.

And that's a horribly stupid thing to say.

It's stupid to believe that even when I know all the little things about the gameplay, music, etc. that the story is somehow going to erase these flaws and make it a good game? Spare me. You'll have to excuse me if I want more from my game than just a storyline. Hell, I wasn't even impressed with what I DID know of its storyline at that point.

Dusty, you're doing nothing more than putting yourself into a long line of people who cannot come up with a good reason to hate EarthBound. You could just say that you didn't find it fun, rather than trying to argue subjective points without any evidence =p

Excuse me?! I gave very valid reasons not to like the game other than "it's no fun." I don't care if you think differently, you are not God, you are not someone who immediately invalidates something I have said. The battle system does suck complete and utter ass, which is not a good thing. I don't care if there are worse battle systems out there, that doesn't suddenly make EarthBound have a good one. The humor was just not even there. You tried to make this stupid excuse that I needed to "lighten up" before, but those jokes are equivalent of elementary school children humor. Heaven forbid that I find none of the jokes remotely funny. The music is nothing to get in a frenzy about. I have heard the entire soundtrack and while there are some good songs on there, most of them aren't worth the time of day. Not that I find videogame music to be that good to begin with. The only videogame music I like tends to be from Uematsu.

So yes, I gave you perfectly valid reasons for disliking the game. You just chose to disagree and then decided it was me who had no evidence to back myself up. You have just reguritated the same damn excuse for the game for over a week now. I don't care how the battle system compares to Xenosaga or Dragon Warrior. What I do care about is how good EarthBound's battle system is by itself and it's garbage. I never criticized the entire storyline nor have I spoken ill of its characters. I have played enough of EarthBound to know that it's bad. No amount of storyline greatness will ever be able to remove it from that category.

True! And whether your fun comes from an enjoyable story, good characters, or engaging gameplay is up to the individual person's discretion. But in the end "FUN" should be by what one judges if they like the game or not.

feel free to debate the merit of earthbound all you want since i enjoy readin these kind of debates, but im also going to go ahead and pose some stats releated questions that are nagging at me for you experts to answer.

from what i understand, based on todays match tifa is statisticly expected to beat sonic? Is that true or false? If its true, do you expect the stats to be reliable or do you think sonic will win?

Also, what is your opinion on the theory that any playable ff7 character would do this well on vyse?
