Analysis

Diablo is the second of three characters to be only in the villains contest and make an appearance on this contest. Diablo did very well in that contest and made it to the final four beating out characters such as Ridley, M. Bison and Kefka who may not be very strong, but is very impressive compare to the other contestants. Kratos is a new character from Tales of Symphonia and like I said both characters here will be overrated (and Lloyd’s match proved it to be true). This is the first time I have a Blizzard character winning, but I can’t help feeling that this is going to shoot me in the ass later on.

If we look at Lloyd’s match against Wesker and baring that he didn’t mysteriously gain a lot in 2 months Lloyd is almost at Mithos’ ranking. We could rank Wesker by using Luca’s adjusted stats, but if anybody saw Magus vs. Knuckles a few days ago would know that might not be the case, but if it is Lloyd would still be very close to Mithos. Now from what I’ve heard many people like Kratos over Mithos and Lloyd, but in the end I don’t think that he’ll be very far off from both of them.

Diablo’s only contest was the villains contest, which has been getting a lot of talk about whether or not we should believe the x-st. Sure I know many matches didn’t go as expected, but since we can relate to Mithos I don’t think we have to say whether their x-st mean anything or not. Diablo is expected to double Mithos, but if he manages to do the same to Kratos then I would be surprised.

Like I’ve said this is the first time I’ve picked Blizzard to win and from the looks of it this will be Diablo’s first match where he breaks 60% against an opponent. I know what to expect of Diablo, but for him to impress me he would have to easily double Kratos. IIRC Diablo and Lloyd (also probably Mithos) are strongest during the day so it will be interesting to see if Diablo can run with the day vote tomorrow. I don’t know why, but I have the strangest feeling that Diablo is going to flop and lose this match, but if that were to happen I will be the first person the destroy the spring’s x-st and will be almost willingly to call Ocelot/Pac-Man a nail-biter.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Diablo over Kratos Aurion

charmander6000’s Prediction: Diablo wins, 64.29% - 35.71%

Tekken 4 is arguably the worst in the whole series. I haven't tried 5 yet but 3 was the highlight of the series.

Anyways, did I miss anything interesting?

Not really. The last couple of days have been pretty ho-hum.

Looks like this match will barely break 90,000 and Sonic himself won't even get 70,000 total votes.

Meh. Kratos was okay, but I didn't even like him at all until AFTER he left the party. He seemed to cliche a character at first. It's the same reason I don't really care for Auron. Typically badass character that knows more than he is letting on.

Tekken 4 almost killed the entire series, how the hell would that give Jin a boost?

Jin was only introduced in the Tekken 3. He was one of the main focuses in that game, and had one of the cooler endings, with him turning into a devil (or something like that). It's not like he's been around as long as Yoshimitsu or Heihachi. If Tekken 3 only introduced him, I'm sure Tekken 4 and 5 did SOMETHING to boost his popularity, at least for those who played them.

With the way Jin's done today and considering both the Tekken favorites poll and the fact he's in both Tekken and SC2...would anybody think Yoshimitsu could prevent a doubling from Sonic?

I'd think Ken's 2K2 value would be more accurate...I just can't buy Ken being weaker than M. Bison. Okay, so I said the same thing about Chun-Li...but, this is KEN. And, with that in mind, I'd probably take Ken over Yoshimitsu. (as opposed to what I said in the 4-pack 'o fun)

Yes, of course. I just don't see any support for him at all, I bet CJayC just slapped him in 2k3. In 2k4, Terry got in over him, and that's odd cause both are liked about equally on this board. Now this year Chun-Li gets over him.

We can't really draw anything from this. As you said Jin is new. It could be that our expectations were off rather than Sonic being weaker than usual.

After seeing how Wily and Sigma performed (and how unlikely Mega Man/Zero SFF looks), I have my doubts that Protoman is any stronger than what he put up last year.

Nothing against Protoman. I love him and all. I just don't think he should come back, at least over someone we know for sure could succeed.
