Tomorrow could be 70-30, but I could see Geno getting eaten alive as well. Geno getting quadrupled with room to spare wouldn't surprise at this point - with what is happening to Magus today, any supporting RPG character from a game not called Final Fantasy is not about to instill any huge amount of faith in me. Geno's almost certainly going to be below the VFL, but I'd go much further and say that I'd be surprised if he ended up being as strong as Gordon.

It's still kinda strange how FFVI is so strong as a game and yet can't get a decent competitor in the contest.

I'm still not comfortable with using data from the games contest until we get a bracket with mixed divisions. Sure FFVI is very popular, but I wouldn't put it not being as popular as those x-stats say past me. I'm sure there were people voting for it due to the Final Fantasy name alone.

About it not being able to get a decent competitor, it kind of follows the games =/= characters concept. A person may vote FFVI over LoZ:LttP, but it doesn't necessarily mean he likes the game. And even if he did like the game to a degree, it doesn't necessarily mean that he likes the characters enough to vote for them over other popular characters.

Geno is going to be SFF'd to some small degree, that is all but assured. While probably drawing strength from both Nintendo and Square fanbases, the Square fanbase isn't going to be standing strong behind him. However, to call any 'fanbase' a solid voting block is faulty. How much will the Nintendo 'fanbase' really come out in support of Geno? SMRPG proved decently strong, but how much of that is simply because it was an RPG with Mario in it?

Geno will start off weak regardless, and he'll be SFF'd to some degree, and seeing as virtually everyone on this site (Nintendo and Square voters alike) has played a Final Fantasy or two, I don't know if the Nintendo fanbase will ever show up. Also, Geno's pic? It is not going to be pulling in any major support. Yes, he's recognizable, but the people who recognize him likely won't vote for him and the people who don't recognize him almost certainly won't.

I'm going on a longshot and saying that Squall is gonna quintuple Geno. I hope that doesn't happen (he's representing one of the best games ever), but it just FEELS that way after seeing all the other SNES Squaresoft characters doing so poorly. I expected an easy tripling even before seeing Cecil and Terra bomb. If Geno can stay above 25% I'm happy.

That's the thing... he's not a SNES Square character. He's a SNES Mario character as far as the voters are concerned. Squaresoft just owns his rights. It's kinda like saying Diddy Kong and the rest of the Kong clan outside of Donkey Kong are Rare characters (I think Nintendo owns their rights though). But it's still essentially the same thing. Diddy and the rest of the Kongs are Nintendo characters.

Yes, but the Kongs have a whole series of games, and they happen to be the main characters. Geno is in but one, and he's a supporting character who happens to be a puppet. I could see Mallow getting quintupled by Squall quite easily, and for the life of me I don't see Geno being all that much stronger than Mallow, if at all. Yes, he is from a Nintendo RPG, but that fact isn't going to be enough to rally support for him.

I'm with Haste on this one. This could get ugly. Very very ugly. As much as I'd love to see Geno beat that sad sack of flesh that is Squall, if Geno can avoid getting quadrupled I'd consider it a victory.

For some reason I forgot that Geno has two fanbases backing him up. o_O Then again, Ness kinda has support from RPG fans, too, and look how he bombed against Bowser. On the other hand, if Ness can avoid SFF from Auron hopefully Geno will avoid it from Squall.

Geno is the best battler in that game. He has the best special attacks, has solid attack power, and can Geno Boost everybody. I slightly prefer Mallow as a character, though.

False. I was never much of a fan of Geno. I'm expecting at least a tripling with a chance of a quadrupling. A quintupling seems a little far-fetched, but it would make me very happy with my Squall > Vincent pick.

There's very little reason to believe Squall is SFFing him. Just because his game was made by Square doesn't mean he's associated with them.

I would imagine more people bought it because it was a Mario game than because it was a Square game or an RPG.

I like Mallow/Geno because they're new characters. I can have fun with Bowser or Peach in virtually every other Mario game, but Mallow/Geno are only in one. Plus, I love Geno Blast.
