Am I the only one thinking Knuckles is a lot stronger than thought, and Magus has only decreased minimally?

It makes more sense for Magus to actually have decreased as opposed to Knuckles shooting up for no particular reason.

Why am I under the impression that regardless of how astoundingly shocked we are, Knuckles will still have 65% of the brackets on his side?

I think that too...well, it's more because of Knuckles bias, but meh.

Why am I under the impression that regardless of how astoundingly shocked we are, Knuckles will still have 65% of the brackets on his side?

Probably, the casuals might be dumb most of the time, but when they see a Sega big-name vs. Old-School RPG character from Crono's game, you know where they go.

Knuckles mmiigghhtt be the favorite, but there is no way he'll have 65% of the brackets here. I'm thinkin' he'll have just under 40%, myself.

Crono won the afternoon vote with Mario.
Magus split the afternoon vote with Ganondorf.
Frog dropped extremely fast with it against Master Chief. (Autumn)
Knuckles did not gain much (at least compared to the morning) with it against Kefka.

I have no idea why you guys think Knuckles will even approach a 50% prediction percentage. He barely mustered 43% against Kefka last year (with the lower seed). This time, he's up against a guy who nabbed 90% of the brackets last year in a 6/11 match. Magus will easily have 70% of the brackets.

Honestly, it looks like Magus was never that strong in the first place. He just overperformed against Link, thus making Sam Fisher and Tidus also look stronger than they really are.

Dunno how Ganondorf wasn't affected, though.

For comparisons, here's how bracket-pickers went with Knuckles and Magus over the years...

2002:
Knuckles had 69.02% against Akira Yuki, then Solid had 76.18% to escape his four-pack of those two and Squall.

2003:
Knuckles had 50.22% against Yuna, then Solid had 79.7% to escape his four-pack of those two and Raiden. Magus had 56.92% against Fisher and 24.25% against Tidus/Ganon. Link had 84.53% to escape his eight-pack of AiAi, Fox, Pikachu, Tidus, Ganon, Fisher, and Magus.

2004:
Knuckles had 43.05% against Kefka, then Solid had 68.18% to escape his four-pack of those two and Tanner. Magus had 90.45% against Luca, then Crono had 78.5% to escape his four-pack with those two and Conker.

Knuckles, STILL the weakest character to win a match in every summer contest. And STILL the Square slayer. He's the only character not named Cloud to win multiple matches against Square without a loss. And with Squall, Vincent, and Crono ahead, Knux is looking good to reach the finals, where he will inevitably lose 60/40 to Snake.

Terra = Explain her prediction percentage.

This was Terra's first year. In Kefka's first year, he couldn't even get half the brackets on his side against Pac-Man, and look at him now. Terra's probably a similar case, only when put up against a 1 seed in her first match, she obviously looked even worse.

From: Sir Crono | Posted: 8/10/2005 11:49:07 AM | Message Detail
CT's first night vote is generally better than the second. At Knux's current pace, Magus will have to take off 1600-2000 votes to win.

In other words, it ain't happenin'. He's not Mario.
