Magus now needs 55.3% of the remaining votes, or there abouts. And in the last half hour, Knuckles has gained 15 votes. Looking less and less likely now.

This actually makes a bit more sense, as it's operating much like the night vote did for Knuckles, with updates going to each. Granted, I still expect him to take this one as well, as he was gaining all throughout the night.

Still, those first few updates...they looked a bit suspect. Then again, so did Knuckles when he first took off in the day.

At 16:00, this match's total votes...

Magus vs. Knuckles - 77734
Vinny vs. Kerrigan - 77003
Crono vs. Zidane - 72425
Ness vs. CJ - 76266 (Wednesday match)
Ryu vs. Rikku - 80637 (Wednesday match)
Snake vs. Manny - 70627 (Wednesday match)

All in all, it looks about on track to reach 100,000... and though the vote totals seem a bit high for these two characters (who have never been huge vote drawers, I think), there's nothing that fishy.

Is it just me, or does every Square char not named Cloud or Crono has absolutely NO staying power?

Seph has been dropping continually ever since 2k3.
Squall underperformed 2 matches in a row in 2k4.
Tidus dropped faster than a meteor in 2k4.
And after coming close to beating SS in 2k3, Frog nearly lost to Riku!

Vincent has been impressive in his first match, but will he still be impressive NEXT YEAR?
Or the year after once the hype from DoC wares off?

Shouldn't be too hard to do, we're on track for 100-101 thousand, so that'd only need another 500 votes to come off.

After this match, that's looking not to be the case.

Well, Magus dropped faster, but still... Tidus bombed against MM, who bombed against Link.

And this year, he failed to triple KoaC!
I'll be totally shocked if Kirby didn't royally kick his butt next round.

... I'm having trouble staying interested in the discussion.

Chichi's right that you cannot prove anything at this point, regardless of how suspicious it is , even if he does act rather petulant about it.

What, exactly, is the most popular explanation for Magus's performance in 2003? I'd read through 700+ posts, except I'd rather be lazy and just ask. Or is just "We don't know"?

"Seph has been dropping continually ever since 2k3."

Sp2k5 counts for nothing, especially since it puts Ganon higher than ever before while we're seeing Magus lower than before. Oh, and the least squareds actually have Seph slightly gaining as well. Shows how little you know.

"Squall underperformed 2 matches in a row in 2k4."

He was SFFd in one and only slightly under performed in the other agaisnt a character that had a new game recently.

"Tidus dropped faster than a meteor in 2k4."

Clearly he was overrated like Magus was. They have both dropped relatively proportionately, aren't you intellitgent enough to make the simple conneciton here?

"And after coming close to beating SS in 2k3, Frog nearly lost to Riku!"

And we don't know where Riku ranks!

"Vincent has been impressive in his first match, but will he still be impressive NEXT YEAR?"

If DoC comes out before then bank on it.

There's no way of telling. The popular theory is that CT sprites make them overperform, for whatever the reason.

regardless of who you're rooting for, seeing Magus come back from this would rank #1 on the "holy ****, what just happened?" meter. I would absolutely love for this to happen, and this has nothing to do with Magus winning the division in my bracket. I gave up on that thing twelve hours ago.

... Why wouldn't they do about as well with their artwork? It's not as though it is Terra with her FFVI Amano art or Kerrigan with... whatever the hell she got. They look so similar, I don't see how they could overperform by that degree simply based upon sprites.

My bracket is officially down the drain.
I had Vincent losing to Dante, and Magus winning the division.
And to top it off, I also had Tidus beating Kirby!

Well, considering Frog and Magus both seem to have done it...

Either that, or Knuckles is nearly equal to Sonic and stronger than the guy who beats him 60/40 every year.

Anyone else think that after Vincent/Kerrigan Kratos Aurion has a chance again?

First off, Wesker was probably greatly hurt by Kefka's god pic. It's the only good pic Kefka will ever get, for cripe's sake. This means that Wesker is underrated in the stats, which means that Lloyd didn't do as bad as we thought. This is turn predicts more strength for KA.

Second, Diablo isn't that strong. He's a mid-carder at best. 8000 votes over Kefka isn't impressive at all.

Third, Kerrigan bombed. Hugely. Whether this represents a decrease in Blizzard power os just her weakness, I don't know, but it sure doesn't make Diablo look good.

Fourth, very few people like Lloyd, at all. Unlike Auron/Tidus, where some people like Tidus but most like Auron, this is where almost no one likes Lloyd but nearly everyone at least likes Kratos Aurion, if not love him. It's likely Kratos aurion is far stronger than Lloyd.

It's most likely that I'm completely wrong, but we could be looking at a bracket buster here.
