I didn't realize we were that close to closing. Let's try again.

I was contemplating the idea that sprite pics for the CT crew really make a difference, similar to Kefka. It would account for an "overperformance" on Link by Magus, which helps resolve Magus, Ganondorf, Tidus and Sam Fisher. The same for Frog on Snake, which resolves Frog, MC, LS, and Crash. The only immediate flaw that I can find is that while Mario/Crono I was artwork, both Mario/Crono II and III were sprites, and Crono did noticeably better in III. If II was artwork as well, I'd be very inclined to believe this. I don't really have the wherewithal to look through other opponents, but this seems possible.

It makes no ****ing sense, since Sonic hasn't done anything worth playing since Sonic CD, but damn it.

Well, Crono seems to be the exception to everything that is pre-PSX Square.

Plus, I think Crono benefits from being the face of his game. I've said this many times before, but I'll say it here again. I knew who he was long before I ever played the game. I could not say that about any other pre-PSX Square character.
