I thought Tidus was overrated too, but I couldn't see him doing that much worse than Squall did against a common opponent, hence I picked Tidus.

Hopefully I wasn't screwed by my Match Logic > X-Stats Logic mentality. Actually, it is Kirby here... hopefully I was.

Vincent just scored over 75k votes, almost 80k. We've established that only 8 characters have ever done that before.

Again anybody could do that given the right opponent and votes, but you got a point there.

If you wanted to argue that he would still lose to Magus I'd let you, but you're saying he'll lose to Dante.

I also say that Vincent is the favorite going into the match.

That's ridiculous, I'm sorry if I can't buy the idea that Kerrigan only beats 2-3 characters from the 2k4 bracket but it just wouldn't happen, not with a performance like that.

Again you're assuming, but for all I know she could be stronger then Freeman.

We'd know if he wasn't super stong and she was just uber weak, you know how? Th match wouldn't have broken 100k. Why in the world would Vincent beat Kerrigan as badly as Mario but still get a (slightly) higher vote total when the voters were more aware of this contest than any previous one? We know what it looks like when an uber loser steps into the ring (I hate saying this...) because of matches like Samus vs. Yuri where the powerhouse does what we think they should but the vote totals suffer just because the opposition is that bad.

First of all they are two completely different fanbases and FFVII ususally brings in the votes (Not so much with Aeris), but I really can't challenge you there. As for Samus vs. Yuri, sure he probably dropped a few k's, but I think it will mostly go to site traffic, again it's a lame excuse.

What you're doing here at this point is making yourself look like a newbie, and it's rather embarrasing, far more than missing a point for the last match in fact. Just stop.

I've seen people do much worse and with less information.

Magus had 54.39% 30 minutes into that match...but while Ganon is good with the day vote, Knuckles is the poster boy for it.

Magus is in deep trouble...this is shocking to me. I like others suspected an underperformance here, but I didn't think for a moment that Magus might lose the match.

Because it proves that 'Dorf was overranked in 2003 and that he did get the increase with Zelda and Link. That means the increase was mostly the reason why Zelda beat Vivi so bad.

Which means Zelda would challenge 2003 Snake much less 2004/2005 Snake.

That's what I'm saying. Based on the 2003 stats, Ganondorf looked like he didn't move at all. If it turns out that the entire four-pack was overrated from the start, then that explains his supposed lack of boost in 2004.

I was contemplating the idea that sprite pics for the CT crew really make a difference, similar to Kefka. It would account for an "overperformance" on Link by Magus, which helps resolve Magus, Ganondorf, Tidus and Sam Fisher. The same for Frog on Snake, which resolves Frog, MC, LS, and Crash. The only immediate flaw that I can find is that while Mario/Crono I was artwork, both Mario/Crono II and III were sprites, and Crono did noticeably better in III. If II was artwork as well, I'd be very inclined to believe this. I don't really have the wherewithal to look through other opponents, but this seems possible.
