I think Kerrigan would be above 27-28% right now with a halfway decent picture. I would have never known the name "Kerrigan" without Board 8, but I would have at least recognized her as the character on the Starcraft box.

Well, let's put it this way... Imagine the most mediocre game you can, in your opinion. Then imagine if you had to hear about a character from that game for months because the game did well in a contest, even if you are fully aware that said character isn't a fraction of that game. Then imagine if you've finally shaken off that character for the most part and when a character from a completely separate game but from the same company does well you have to hear about that mediocre at best character from said mediocre game for months on end even though there is nothing to support a relationship in strength between the two. In fact, imagine, if you will, some people saying that the sub-par character from one game will do better than the other only somewhat related character when said loser has every reason to do the opposite. Again, this is for months on end, don't forget this. Then as this tiny speck of a character is talked about incessantly the board's nominations are totaled and she gets more than any other character! Three times as many noms as a character three times as strong as her (meaning if Vincent was nominated properly she had 9 times as many nominations as she deserved) and then after all that you get to listen to some people call the vastly more powerful character a "board creation" and assume he'll barely escape a match with the non-factor that got THREE TIMES AS MANY BOARD NOMINATIONS BUT ONLY GOT ONE SEED HIGHER.

Tell me, wouldn't you feel vindictive, and oh so vindicated when one of your all-time character thrashes the hell out of a more-than-year-long annoyance?

BTW, kudos to those who said that because this is a FAQ site, essentially "everyone" would know Vincent. Even I wasn't entirely convinced of that; as I said before name recognition was the only thing about Vincent that concerned me. Clearly, that is no issue at all.


And one last implication of this match: Chrono Trigger is like the mini-FF7 of this site, so I think that this match bodes well for the performance of other characters like Robo and Ayla. I definitely think that Robo would be at 22+% on BL.

How? I just think Terra is a significantly bigger disapointment, not that Dante is more astonishing. And I'm glad to hear you have the correct winner, points for you.

What? You don't think there's room for Vincent to be much stronger than Squall? Seriously, people need to get past the idea that Vincent can't be stronger than Aeris.

I've loved him for a long time and have subsequently talked him up since the contest began, I'm not going nuts at all. I've ALWAYS thought he'd be stronger than Aeris and in fact my first estimate was that he'd fall directly inbetween Cloud 2k3 and Aeris 2k3 (or in other words, = Mario) and only fear kept me from acting like he was when making my bracket. I still regret it. In fact, I wish that we could still say that Kerrigan might equal Diablo... nothing like seeing Vincent on par with Cloud, after all.

The only way for Dante to beat Vincent if we don't count the possble DMC3 boost is if Ryo Hazuki could get around 43% on Kerrigan. I have a hard time to see that happening, but maybe I can hope for some weird SFF :D
