Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 190

Yeah, most recent appearances unless indicated otherwise. That's Spring Sephiroth, unless Ganondorf is right under Mario's nose.

Interesting.

So Spring 2k5 Sephiroth is based off of Ganon then? I had thought that, until further notice, we were still assuming Sephiroth was constant from last year.

Well, that's under the assumption that the 20XX adjustment was correct and that Kefka increased rather than Vercetti decreasing, both of which I doubt.

Or at least I doubt Kefka went up that much.

I had thought that, until further notice, we were still assuming Sephiroth was constant from last year.

No, we weren't, because that brings Ganondorf and Bowser up a little too high. They used least squares to determine the value, I believe.

Which would put Ganondorf over Mario and Bowser almost exactly at Mario's level.

I also doubt that Kefka went up that much. He's probably somewhere in between 22.75% and 24.82%, though I would tilt towards the higher end of that.

And Sp2k5 Sephiroth is based on the least-square differences of all of the returning characters save Liquid, which is closer to holding Kefka constant than any other character.

Guess I was just too out of touch with the arguing about where Seph was in the VC. *shrugs* Regardless, I'm gonna stay skeptical on Sephiroth dropping that much until further notice.

I think Dante is going to get the majority of the votes, but I also think that Terra will get a higher percent then what she will finish with.

Yeah, it's pretty sad how many board regulars are bracket voters. I expect Terra's early board vote to be canceled by Dante bracket votes and then Dante will just coast from there. By the 15 minute mark Terra will already be below 40%! </Dante schilling>

Even now that I think Terra is going to lose, I dont see Dante destroying Terra. 60-40 is the absolute worst I see this match going. Dante just isnt that strong and despite it all Terra still is FFVI.

What's wrong with wanting to vote for the person you need to win for a chance at any prizes?

#1. Half the time you're not even in the running anyway. Even though I'm going to assume you're a sensible bracket voter who knows when hope is lost.
#2. Mainly, I just don't like that voting mentality. Instead of a popularity contest, the contest turns into a "who you think is popular"ity contest.

Im just praying this is MH/Kuja situation and not a Wily/Ocelot situation.

So you want this to go 50/50 then you want Terra to run with the day vote and finish with 5000 votes over Dante.

Not going to happen.

Fun fact: More brackets had Tom Nook beating Crono in 2003 than had Conker beating Crono in 2004.

I remember being shocked and thoroughly owned in the Prediction Percentage Challenge back then...I predicted Crono with about 85% support for Crono/Conker. Must've been because of a general increase in Crono support (a lot because the Bio page for SC2K4 hyped up Mario/Crono 3) and also because Crono was a higher seed.
