Even if Kerrigan is stronger than Diablo she still has no shot at Vincent if he's anywhere near Aeris. For her to have any chance whatsoever you have to bank on Vincent being significantly weaker than Aeris.

Sure people did the campaign in the first or second year, but as the years pass the people who bought the game bought it for the multiplayer.

And as the years passed, people stopped playing FF7 as much, and its strength has just plummeted. Oh, wait, it hasn't? You mean....*gasp*, voters have memories?

Kerrigan does not strike me as the type of character who is going to hemorrhage popularity as time goes on. If anything, the years will have given everyone who plays starcraft the opportunity to be exposed to her.

Well, I think Kerrigan is going to be quite a bit stronger than Diablo, for one. In any case, I think Vincent should still win - I just don't think it is going to be as one sided as people are thinking.

I agree. I mean, I only just played the SC campaign, and I had the game since 2001. Since it has maintained popularity, more people will play the campaign as time goes on, even if they ORIGINALLY got it for the online aspect.

Pretty much... depending on Dante on Terra, I mean if he completely bombs, heh. But yeah, that's what I'm thinking actually. 60% will have me pissing my pants, anymore and I'll think Dante is done for. 55 or less and I think Dante has his name all over it.

I'm bringing back up the 5 minutes poll updates, unless there's an unforseen reason that Ceej is keeping it up, (IE: letting him track votes and so on) other than just so people can't see what's going on it's insane. If someone uses Mr. Proxy every five minutes, 2:30 seconds into the updates the general public will see, no one will see a trend, and people will just assume that it's constant becuase every 5 minute update is going to be similar.

Truthfully, the storyline revolves around Terra, but there really is no main character. Especially not in the same sense as other main characters are to their games. Terra may be the most important to the story, but she isn't the protypical protagonist.

From the beginning, Locke comes in and takes the lead, and afterwards you get more characters (Edgar, Sabin, Celes) that push Terra even more into the background. The story still revolves around her though. I'm just stating that she isn't the typical protagonist that we've become accustomed to. It really is a special case.

Analysis

This division is almost as bad as the dream division, but it’s probably because of this four-pack we’re going to have. The winner of the division isn’t really in question (unless you’re hopeful and things go your way) and the division final will probably be boring and the winner isn’t going to have a chance against Crono.

Expected win for Dante or potential upset for Terra you decide. I think Dante should win without much trouble, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Terra kept this match really close. If you are wondering Kefka would get 42% against Dante. The biggest argument from the Terra supporters are that since Kefka is close to Dante and heroes > villains Terra could have enough strength to pull the upset.

Well that argument could work, but this is probably one of the rare cases where the villain will be stronger then hero. Many people may consider her as the main character, but just as many people think that someone else is the main character in Final Fantasy VI. I also would think that she would be the strongest out of the group though, but some of them probably won’t be too far away from her. I also don’t see Terra being to far off from Kefka so even if she is stronger then him it won’t be enough to give Dante a match.

Now we have Dante, he’s been in this contest and has done very well in them. Like most years he’s going to have tough time making it to the sweet 16 (which he’s only done once), but at the time he always had a chance. With Devil May Cry 3 out we could expect him to gain a few points this year, but if he doesn’t then I’ll be very surprised (He got a boost from Devil May Cry 2 for crying out loud).

I’m going to go with that Dante wins as expect. First of all Terra would have to be a lot more popular then Kefka to make it a match plus there is the possibility that Dante could’ve increased with his new game. I don’t see Terra breaking 45% on Dante, but I could see Dante break 60% in this match though it won’t be by much unless he got a boost from Devil May Cry 3.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Dante Sparda over Terra Branford

charmander6000’s Prediction: Dante wins, 60.78% - 39.22%

The arguments about Kerrigan not being recognizable are completely ridiculous. If you have Brood War installed, her picture is right there as the main screen is loading. Even if the name of the game isn't "Kerrigan", she is the face of Starcraft.

I really do think Kerrigan/Vincent has more upset potential than Dante/Terra. If Dante gets under 60% of the vote I'll be disappointed, and I wouldn't be surprised if he managed a doubling.

I'm just not seeing Terra having enough of the FF VI fanbase backing her up. The fans she does have would probably vote her over many, but I think Kefka has more general appeal.

The arguments against Kerrigan are pretty ridiculous. I don't think she stands a chance against Vincent, but that's because of Vincent's strength as opposed to Kerrigan's weakness.

Oh, and I love how slow these topics are going now that Vercetti/Kefka is done. I like being able to leave for a long period of time and comeback with only a page or so being filled up. =p

I'm sure a couple of those will end up being anti-climactic. The thing about Vercetti/Kefka was that Tommy spent the ENTIRE DAY slowly coming back on Kefka, so it left everyone in suspense.

Compare this to Tidus/Shadow where one person clearly had the lead even though it was a close match. There wasn't nearly as much commotion. Just the Shadow supporters who kept waiting on the comeback. I hardly think ALL of those matches will end up being nailbiters. We may end up with one or two at most....

I would agree with that. Despite how many of them are heavily anticipated matches, I would only imagine a few of them actually being close enough to warrant constant commotion from this topic. I believe many of them, while close, will be decided once morning hits.
