HM definitely knows his stuff, but I stay alot more skeptical on him than most users when it involves characters I know he likes. No offense to the guy, of course; there's alot of times he's still right despite being biased. It's just that he's been on the other side of that field, too.

I know what ya mean.

And Magus over Ganon was a good display of strength yes, but was that in 03? If so, then uhh....I blame it on Square having a good year then <_<

Could any regular player get him without using a guide?

I could not. FFVII's movement system was for me nearly impossible to accurately judge, so I only got 3 of 4 clues.

The one I did not? Move 8 steps 1 way, 2 another, or some such. I pressed A on nearly everything in that **** mansion.

Unless Ganondorf got the same big boost Link did in 2004 and it lined up close to his 2003 number...

One thing that worries me about Magus is that 2k3 is Link's weakest year.

After letting noone but Seph to break 40% on him in 2k2, his performance in 2k3 as a whole seems like a choke job.

I'm tired of the indications that people that like GTA and Halo are pretty much idiots. If those so called casual gamers had a significant effect on the contest, Master Chief, Vercetti and Ceej would be MUCH stronger.

Casual gamers do NOT rule this site NOR do they rule the vote. The casual voters are probably people who think just like us. There's not anything special about people that roam the boards on this site.

That's not what I'm saying.

Link got a big boost in 2004, and yet somehow Ganondorf didn't (even though Zelda has shown signs of boosting, and I think she would have in 2004 as well). It's possible that Magus may have overperformed to the extent that somehow Ganondorf's increase got covered up due to SFF and Magus's overperformance in 2003.

Heck, Tidus and Shadow looked to have fallen proportionally big time in 2004, so stranger things have happened.

Magus had a bandwagon in 2k3 similar to the one Frog had in 2k4. For all we know, people that normally wouldn't vote for him may have supported him in 2k3 just to see him do well. Look at Frog in 2k4... he was practically a Cinderella.

Also, although other people may not put as much as I do behind this, we've SEEN Magus get significantly SFF'd by his lead. Not saying that wasn't supposed to happen, since Crono is his lead, but it shows that Magus's voters aren't as hardcore as they seem. Magus falls in line in popularity just like any other character. So Magus voters being hardcore has already been proven wrong. Now if CHRONO TRIGGER voters are hardcore, then that's a different story. That remains to be seen however... and I doubt they're more hardcore than FF7 fans....

If Bowser can SFF Ness, then Link SFF'ing Samus by a few percent is certainly possible.

I'm sure there is, even if it's only a few percent.

Mario gained a percent against Link 2k3 between 2k2 and 2k3.
In 2k4, however, he lost it again.

IMO, 2k2 is Mario's strongest year with respect to Link 2k3, it's just that in 2k2 he was SFF'ed a little by Link.

CT is older than FF VII, yet it managed to get so close to FF VII in the Best Game Ever contest.

I meant that out of people who like both, I don't see more people siding with Magus than they would for Vincent... especially since they've already seen what Magus can do in a contest.

The winner of that match is looking at a match with Crono anyways. I'm sure people aren't looking forward to a Crono/Magus rematch. Vincent seems to have every single little thing in his favor... O_O

Personally, I expect Kerrigan to be stronger than Diablo. The "she isn't in the multiplayer" argument strikes me about as silly as the "Vincent is optional" argument. She's in the instruction book, she is massive in the single player campaign, and she is everywhere in UMS games. Oh, and Starcraft has been out for 7 years also, so its not as if she hasn't had the chance to have some exposure. Considering how strong Starcraft has shown itself, to laugh Kerrigan off as fodder seems foolish. Vincent is likely going to beat her, but even then unless Vincent mutilates her I'm going to believe it's more Vincent's strength than Kerrigan's weakness, at least till I see round 2.

Ceej also mentioned that there were more votes stuffed by others during those matches.

And all he needs to change a Mario vs. Crono is a few hundred.

He probably got too bold with his previous successes that he became overly blatant in Kefka vs. TV.

But of course, everything he said could be nothing but a load of BS.
