Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
http://sc2k5.com/drupal/node/11

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

She only needs to be 4.5% higher in the xstats from kefka. That isn't a large change if you think about it. I mean look at cloud and sephiroth, and they're actually close to each other compared to most villains and their respective protaganists.

If you're sick of explaining what happened last night to people/trying to link them to 5 different topics, now you can just point them in this direction.

That should cover everything, from Ulti's early warning that votes were about to removed to CJay's revelation that China(?) mass-stuffed Tommy.

XD, we fill up six topics in one day and now there's only fifteen posts on today's match.

As I said, it was twice as many as for the entire 2003 contest.

So, Crono's tripling Zidane... how much of that is due to SFF, if at all? Either way, Zidane's still a bit above the VFL, even unadjusted.

Go Zidane!!!!! And seeing how he's doing better than expected, watch people claim that there must not be any SFF between Zidane and Crono. Of course trying to determine exactly how much one character should be SFF'd is ridiculous to me. We really have no idea how many people who like Zidane also like Crono... It's not THAT farfetched of an idea...

http://www.thengamer.com/gamefaqs/05Sum-CJaySpeaks.txt

Interesting. The most interesting part of that script are the votes for Tommy Vercetti from IP addresses in China. This confirms that there may be significant regional voting on GameFAQs. So all the talk of European vote, Asian vote, North American vote may actually make sense in some matches.

I'd like to know exactly how much activity GameFAQs gets in other regions. There ARE FAQs in multiple languages... Hmmm.

I think the SFF today is minimal though notable; how much, I don't have an exact number, but I think it'd be just enough to notice...say, 1%-2% or so. It doesn't change the fact that Kefka only got 21.08% while Zidane's currently at 24.72%...and it also doesn't hurt that, using an unadjusted Kefka from 2k4, Kefka was expected to get 25.67% on Crono before SFF. If Zidane can keep inching towards that, then he'll have done well for himself today.

Unfortunately he appears to be inching away from that. I'd like to see Zidane in at least one more contest after this so we can see how he does against non-square.

But it's still all speculation... Until we see Zidane in action against someone non-Square, I'm not making any assumptions about his strength.

The same thing happened with Kefka... everyone assumed he was uber-fodder after his match against Crono. The next year, he actually made himself look almost respectable (almost). And look what happened to Sora... hardly ANYBODY expected him to be as strong as he is. "Who would vote for Sora anyways?" "Nobody likes Sora." Remember all that? Sora came back the next year to shock us all. This match may very well have very little SFF, or it may have a fair amount. I'm not gonna do any speculating on it though.

From: HaRRicH | Posted: 8/7/2005 9:38:00 AM | Message Detail
Meh, I'm still gonna speculate: I cannot see Zidane being on Squall's level with a performance like this (like it was once speculated). Squall got an SFF'd 23.79% against Cloud last year, and they're from the same series and era. Zidane is currently dropping from his probably-SFF'd 24.49% against Crono, and they're from the same company though different series and eras.

Now, Zidane can still be strong as a mid-carder (I would think Yoshi-or-Knuckles/Zidane would be a great match), but I think it's both safe and probably already the common consensus that Zidane is no Squall (or Tidus, depending on your stance of him).

Ganon/Yuna - 46,724

anyone who tries to claim that Zidane is getting hit by any significant amount of SFF has to admit that Luca Blight got hit by nearly the same amount of SFF against Magus. Zidane has about as much in common with Crono as Luca does with Magus - basically just that they are both from RPGs and that Zidane and Crono were their respective game's heroes and Luca and Magus were their games respective villains.

accept it - main characters can be weaker than supporting characters.
