Hmm... I'm not really sure how to feel about the poll updater
returning. With so many high-profile matches coming up, the chances for
increased vote stuffing will proliferate, so it can be argued that we
need this as a safety barrier. Still, the constant refresh is a luxury
I'm going to miss. All in all, it's probably for the better, though.
5 Minutes isn't too bad. I woulda rofl'd if he made it 3 minutes then >_> WWE reference lolol <_<

Man, it's been a while since we've seen the board with 60000+ posts.
Nothing like a crazy controversial match and Ceej posting to stir up the board.

If Kefka was that heavily supported, someone most likely weaker than
Terra, against Vercetti, someone pretty close to Dante, bracket voting
shouldn't be against Terra. Terra for the win!

I think this would have made the bracket much more interesting:
Swap Zidane and Pac-Man.
Swap Geno and Wesker.
That way, Zidane and Geno both avoid SFF for sure, and we get a very interesting four pack at the bottom of the bracket. What is now a Yoshi > Ocelot borefest would probably become heavily debated... both Zidane/Ocelot and Zidane/Yoshi have potential to be interesting matches, and I know I would have taken Zidane > Yoshi.
Geno/Lloyd could spark some debate, as well.

Terra is not looking good. Cecil blew chunks, Kefka went down to
Vercetti, (You can argue till your blue that Kefka is stronger, won;t
change my opinion) and Dante is significently stronger then Vercetti.
How does a character from a different game relate to terra's strength? Kefka didn't show that he's any weaker then last year, which is about what I expected. If Terra ranks a mere 4.5% ahead of kefka in the xstats that would put terra at dante's level. Not exactly impossible.

How does it act as a safety barrier?
When people aren't instantly able to see the results of their labor, it might deter them from cheating. Granted, the system is based entirely on speculation, but I feel that if it can deter one major instance of vote stuffing, it's worth it.
Of course, this is just my theory. CJayC may have an entirely different reason for bringing the updater back.

With all that bracket support, you'd think Kefka would have won, coonsidering it was pretty close anyway.
A good 70% of 40000 bracket should have bracket voted him, and on top of that, the people who actually like him.
God damn it.

I'm sure you meant Kuja.
Anyway, I've been saying Zidane would be a wimp for about 2 years now, and as I said before the contest I'm not really buying into SFF too much here.
Vivi is just far stronger than anybody else from that game, even if he did get trounced by Zelda. And the reason for that should be obvious.

And the reason for that should be obvious.
I doubt it really gives him that big of a boost. If there were black mages with that look in your party in ff7, 8, 10, 6, 4... then I could see your point. There is no way looking like that brings him from kuja's level to where he is now. That's just far to high of a difference for me to believe.

Simple. Find out how many cheated votes there were for Vercetti. Just look at the updater and extrapolate.
Someone asked about Poke/Xeno:
It was easily on pace to have the lowest number of votes all time. Only registered users could vote, and they had to be logged in. Better yet was that only one person per similar IP could vote. In a college dorm? Someone vote before you? Too bad.

He can't know, but if the site admin who can see the IPs tells me
that there were proxies vote-stuffing late in that match (he used the
word "stuff"), I'll believe him before I do you. No offense.
Hmmm...? Do you believe I'm trying to say that Kefka didn't cheat? Because obviously he did, and Ceej's estimate was probably fairly accurate there. I'm talking about Tommy's late surge, which was clear, even if Ceej doesn't know how it happened.
My opinion is that some guy felt like being a dick. Maybe he was bitter about Kefka losing and wanted to see Vercetti get busted for cheating before the poll ended. Either way, how many cheated Vercetti votes do you expect?
Looks like right around 600 votes for Tommy at the end.
Again, he Tommy deserved to win, but the "he would've won anyway" thing isn't really true. Not that it matters much, I just found it very strange for Ceej to post that given the extra ~600 votes.

The difference in the xstats isn't exactly going to be ground breaking.
Were talking about tenths to hundreths of percentages in the stats
here. It really isn't worth adjusting over. Too much effort for such a
small change to be made.

A couple thousand votes doesn't matter too much for the x-stats, given their margin of error. I don't think anyone would worry about an adjustment here.

Err, actually I retract this. Terra at 40% is about the most I could reasonably see her. I won't delete that post but I was going overboard there.
Though it does apply to 45%. I cannot see Terra getting that much. And I do expect Dante to clear 60% fairly easily.

Again though, we really don't need to worry about this having affected
previous close matches. Some matches are just going to be close; that's
how they are. This person, who seems so desperate for communicating
with us now, would not have waited all this time to reveal himself to
the boards. If he were going to reveal himself, he would have waited
for a high profile match, because, if he truly did as much as he
claims, he would have been able to avoid being caught.
Also, we monitor the results closely; that's what we do in this topic. We know the tell tale signs of cheating, and we found them. If he were cheating as he was in this match, and why would he try something new if his older method were working so well, we would have seen it.

It would have been much harder to catch in 15 minute updates. Every surge was in a 5 minute timespan, if not less, so with the old update method, we may have seen one surge, if we got lucky.

I'm goin' to bed, but I'll say it one more time: in 2k3, Kefka got
21.08% on Crono. Granted, in all likelyhood, Kefka is more open to SFF
from Crono than Zidane, but also keep in mind that Crono 2k3 is most
likely weaker than Crono 2k5, too.
So...Zidane or Kefka, who wins?
