Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 188

It's interesting how Vercetti and GTA:VC have both been heavy bracket favorites before in matches...yet, this summer, both Vercetti and CJ were underdogs against more cult/niche characters.

And it looks like Crono is going to approach, or maybe even surpass, 80%. Zidane is more likely to get the board vote.

Aw damn, looks like 5 minute updates have become permanent again.

There is a major problem with that: it makes cheating much harder for us to notice. And if we don't sound the alarms, then Ceej is also less likely to be made aware of it.

Zidane is more likely to get the board vote.

Doesn't CT have a tendency to almost always win the board vote? I don't think Zidane well do badly enough tto fall under 20%, but this is kind of pathetic.

Please, no way I'm believing he influenced that many matches. The most recent topic by cjayc cites why - Vercetti would have won anyway.

This hacking cheater wants to be more glorified than he already, undeservedly, is. If he was that good at it, he wouldn't have gotten caught now, and if he's swung larger vote turnarounds, there's no way he would have gotten caught now. He's a liar, and why should you trust a proven cheater?

Exactly. There is no way this guy's word is even remotely credible. He's just trying to prolong his soon to be short lived fame on this board.

From the huge number of perfects that were just wiped out, I would guess that there was a very strong correlation between people who had Tommy and CJ winning.

I was just thinkin' that myself. For two characters commonly believed to be weak by the board, most of us thought Ness and Kefka both would lose. For two characters with notable roles in some of GameFAQs's most loved games, most of the casuals thought Ness and Kefka would win. Very few of us had just one of them losing...and most of the ones who did thought Kefka would win and Ness would lose, heh.

OK, great, you talk to CjayC occasionally, and I know you know this, because you've been better about it, but really, people, that shouldn't mean anything to you. He's just a person like anyone else.

I find it Ceej's latest topic extremely strange, since stuffing for Tommy in the last bit was as obvious at anything, ever.

From 23:15:02 to 23:40:00, Kefka got 380 votes. Tommy got 1013. That's an average of 200 votes per update for Tommy, when he got less than 100 per update before and after that period.

Tommy definnitely would not have won by more than 1700 votes without this, so the removal of Kefka's votes did alter the result.

Now, the result deserved to be changed; but Tommy would not have won anyway.

And Crono should fairly easily blast past 80% it seems.

(too bad for me I lowered my Oracle prediction from 79% to 77% at the last minute)

And I doubt there is too much SFF here. I believe that Zidane is just very weak.

Then you failed at being annoying, good sir.

Crono is handily whipping Zidane's ass, as a side-note. Zidane could have been SO much better used...Lloyd/Zidane, Luigi/Zidane, or Revolver/Zidane could have been alot better than this. Hell, if Aeris/Sora is a sign of anything, maybe Sora/Zidane could have been interesting (though doubtful).

Hmm... I'm not really sure how to feel about the poll updater returning. With so many high-profile matches coming up, the chances for increased vote stuffing will proliferate, so it can be argued that we need this as a safety barrier. Still, the constant refresh is a luxury I'm going to miss. All in all, it's probably for the better, though.
