Welcome to 50/50 syndrome. Regardless of what happens before two end up being tied, they will remain virtually equal to each other until the end of the poll for seemingly no reason whatsoever.

Like I said before, it probably stays as a 50-50 match because both sides are aware that it is a close match, and the stuffers and voters are all up trying to support their characters. The match starts so late that many of those people are asleep and aren't aware that their character is in danger of losing.
