Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 183

Heh, Kefka has the lead just like I expected. But I don't know... I didn't expect it to be a thousand. It's one of these days where I'm keeping my vote until late in the day, I think.

If Kefka wins, I expect to make the top 50 leaderboard at long last.

I still hope he doesn't though.

And man, I hope the day vote arrives soon, because Vercetti's doing a lousy job at holding Kefka back. If he ever builds a lead of his own, he'll have to fight tooth and nail for it.

Kefka is only gaining a handful at votes and is mostly drawing level with Vercetti.

When the vote arrives Tommy will surely tear into Kefka's lead.

I've been waiting for a match like this since Frog VS MC. It's still completely up in the air, but it will probably be really close, whoever will be the winner.

Can someone list successful comebacks from being down 1000+ votes?

Hey, here's a fun fact:

At this time CJ had more votes than Tommy Vercetti.

George:

Yes. In fact, I'm pretty sure someone has come back from 2,000 votes down and won, although I don't remember who. And Duck Hunt came back from 3,000 votes down against Donkey Kong, but choked the lead away again at the end I think.

Starcraft did it twice, Samus did it, and there are other examples, but I'm too lazy to look.

Oh, and is Vercetti finally waking up? He's kept the gap constant for a while now. He's sure to do good with the day vote, considering Kefka never won it, and against characters who aren't exactly day vote magnets like Mithos and Wesker.

And let's not forget Kefka leading Knuckles by a few hundreds, and then the sun rose and he lost by more than 10000.

Kefka had the lead over Knuckles for 1.5 hour.
Kefka had the lead over Diablo for about 4.5 hours.

I'm leaving now and I doubt Vercetti will comeback enough to win over Kefka. I hope this means that the voters have grown up and realize that GTA games are the most kiddy games in this world.

He needs more than a vote a minute, unfortunately. If Vercetti hasn't taken a big enough lead, Kefka WILL strike back at the end.

Heh . . . Vercetti slowly chipped away Kefka's lead to about the 1,025 mark and they dueled it out there for about five minutes . . . but Kefka has jumped back above 1,050 again. Kefka needs to stall the comeback as long as he can.

Kefka is gunning for 1,100 now . . . only a couple of votes away . . . I could rest a lot easier today if Kefka somehow could miraculously attain a 1,500 lead before Vercetti started seriously chipping away.

o_0

If you were someone I disliked, I would have sigged that.

The only thing kiddy about GTA are the mass amount of casual gamers (kids) who rave about it. There's a lot of mature humour in it (Kchat etc..) and all the kids like about it is Mass Gunage.

Comebacks of 1000 from a 1000 vote deficit:

Samus over Sonic (2002)
Mario over Crono (2002, Crono's comeback unsuccessful)
Magus over Ganondorf (2003, Ganon's comeback unsuccessful)
Starcraft over Halo (SpC2004)

Matches I'm not sure about:

Mario over Cloud (2002)
Tommy Vercetti over Donkey Kong (2003, DK's Comeback unsuccessful)
Dr. Robotnik over Sin (SpC2005)

Comebacks of 2000 from a 2000 vote deficit:

Starcraft over Wind Waker (SpC2004)
Frog over Master Chief (SC2004, MC's comeback unsuccessful)

Comebacks of 3000 from a 3000 vote deficit:

Donkey Kong over Duck Hunt (SpC2004, DH's comeback unsuccessful)
Super Smash Bros. Melee over Starcraft (SpC2004, Starcraft's comeback unsuccessful)

That's all I can think of, and I may be missing some matches.
