gordon is gonna get destroyed anyway. he humiliates himself against known weaklings so what will he do against what is potentially his greatest opponent yet?

People might be assuming too much strength in Leon too soon. Remember when people thought that Wesker could be strong in the Villian Contest then? Also not to mention that Half Life 2 came out since the last contest, which could actually help Gordon out a bit.

...Just trying to find reasons why I actually picked Gordon now. >_>

gordon freeman is a real mystery to me. his games are well liked and are pretty popular. there is always quite a bit of hype for them. so while that doesn't mean he should be strong he should be at least above fodder but he isn't.

Well first off compare the fanbases for Zelda/CT here to Half-Life. Yeah not even close

Second off, Link and Crono you actually see throughout the entire game and while they dont speak, the reaction other people give to them shows a definite personality.

Gordon Freeman never says a word, you never see him, he might as well not exist.

Yeah, I thought Wesker would be strong to, and something weird happened in the Villains contest, because if Lloyd can avoid doubling from Zero, then Wesker is underrated by the stats. Jill has never been a pushover in the contests either. Leon comes off the two most popular RE's, (RE2 for the old schoolers, and RE4 for everyone else) that and GFNW mean that it will at least be a doubling.

A) The most popular RE character among RE fans
B) The star character of the two most popular RE games by the general gaming public
C) Will get some portion of the Nintendo vote.

There's also a HUGE difference between "not having any personality" and "not having any presence in the game".

Link has no personality, but he does have a presence in the game.

My point was that Gordon isn't weak because he lacks personality, but because he lacks presence in his own game.

Analysis

Finally we have another hyped match. Even though according to the x-st Vercetti is suppose to get 56% Kefka has a chance to make this close or let Vercetti steam roll him tomorrow. I find this match to be over hyped and with no angel Kefka picture in sight I find that Kefka doesn’t have much of a chance (he may make it close in the beginning). Also do you think Pac-Man would have a nail-biter against Donkey Kong? Sure that was during 2k3, but you get my point.

First let’s talk about last year both characters were on the opposite ends of the wacky 20XX division. Since they were both in the same division I don’t have to get into Link/Mega Man, but I still have to comment about Mega Man/Snake. Something weird went wrong in that match, but then again even if we were to give Snake his 2k3 total back (which would put him ahead of unadjusted Mega Man) Kefka would still lose to adjusted Vercetti 52/48 and that’s a big IF.

Now the biggest argument people that chose Kefka made was Vercetti is in a series where many people forget the main character once the new game came out and with San Andreas out Vercetti should be weaker. First of all if that was true Vercetti wouldn’t even be in the contest and second the only time I can see people forgetting about Vercetti will be if he’s against CJ (and with his match against Ness Vercetti has a good chance in winning).

Kefka was also in the villains contest last spring and did ok. If you use Ganondorf as the base Kefka ranked almost exactly with his 2k4 adjusted numbers and with that said Lettuce Kefka = Clown Kefka unless of course Ganondorf grew from 2k3 (2k4 was destroyed by Link), which so far doesn’t look likely, but could still happen and even if it was true that would only put him at 22%.

So there you have it. It looks like we’re going to wait a while before we get some interesting matches (Round 2 looks really great), but this match should be interesting when it begins since Kefka will make good work with the night vote (You should’ve seen the look on the board’s faces when he was beating Knuckles) and maybe hold a lead for a few minutes, but other then that I don’t see this to be an interesting match.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Tommy Vercetti over Kefka Palazzo

charmander6000’s Prediction: Vercetti wins, 53.69% - 46.31%
