Analysis:

And we have Ryu; the third character able to take this division will be closing it for round 1. Rikku is the fourth character from Final Fantasy X to make it into this contest this year. She is also from Final Fantasy X2 and like Yuna, she will be taking a first round defeat by the hands of a much stronger opponent, but will she leave a big enough mark to make it back next year?

Well I see Rikku not too far off of Yuna since they were both in the same games, but Yuna will still be stronger. Also we know Yuna gain a boost from her match against Ganondorf from FFX2. This doesn’t show how strong Rikku is, but it does show us that she too can do well in this contest. If she had a better draw she may have kept this match close.

Ryu has gotten nothing notable this past year. Ryu is the strongest Street Fighter character in this contest and by using the adjusted (and unadjusted) stats for 2k4, Ryu is the strongest in this division, but that doesn’t make him the favorite. We have Bowser’s VC’s numbers and we also have Tidus’ weird performance against Mega Man in 2k4 and even then Ryu is destining to beat Bowser 52/48. Out of all the characters in this division, Ryu will most likely be the most constant.

There’s really isn’t much to talk about this match now is there? Nothing has really happened to Ryu and Rikku is too new to give a long speech about, but she will be the weakest FFX character to have been in this contest. So we can have a doubling by Ryu or he can struggle to break 60% tomorrow. Also don’t forget nighttime it when Street Fighter is the strongest so we’re going to start off the match with Ryu overperforming then he’ll be brought down to Earth.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Ryu Hoshi over Rikku

charmander6000’s Prediction: Ryu wins, 63.45% - 36.55%

in all likelyhood, Rikku will get one of these two pics:

and then Ryu will get this pic:

I think Rikku could possible be > or = Yuna in strength.

Yes, Yuna was more prominant, but Yuna was also more "bleh" in FFX in terms of accruing the feat of being someone's favorite character.

Of course. According to poll 841, Rikku is the second most popular FFX character. And don't tell me that counts for nothing. It means something. If anything, that Rikku will not be weaker than KOS-MOS.

So? According to one of those polls, Luigi and Yoshi are more popular than Mario. And we all know how they do in relation to Mario.

You said something that made no sense. Knuckles wins in a series poll, but in a contest, watch him burn against the hedgehogs. Bison gets no votes whatsoever in a favorite SF character poll, yet in a contest environment he beats them all but Ryu. Kuja murders Sin, Squall creams Tidus...

Match 16: (2) Ryu Hoshi

Please do not use that awful last name made up by the live action movie. Ryu does not have a last name. The only reason Ken even has one is so Mattel wouldn't sue them when they released the SFII action figures.

What's up with these people saying Akuma wouldn't be as popular because he wasn't around during the series's prime? Was Shadow around during the prime of Sonic's series? He's the kind of guy that the casuals love, and he has been well-traveled, despite not being around until SSFIIT. The series did not die then, you know. There are plenty of people who are familiar with who Akuma is. If he was weaker than Bison, it wouldn't be due to lack of recognizability, I can guarantee that.

Your point? You act as if its against to law to bring up those polls. Maybe...the FFX one will be RIGHT! It predicted Auron > Tidus > Yuna.

Auron > Tidus > Yuna

Auron over Tidus is still questionable at best. Predicting Tidus over Yuna isn't anything special.

Which makes me feel a little better about her. I wouldn't feel comfortable with Chun Li being less popular than Bison. She has just as much cross-over appeal if not more than Bison.

Although with Chun Li, Bison, and Ken appearing to all be similar in strength, it may be a case of the Street Fighter fanbase franchise voting for everyone in the series, and due to Ryu being more popular among the non-hardcore fans.

All 4 characters faced new characters, so we really won't know until after round 2. If Tidus puts up Squall-like numbers against Kirby next round then I think he has a great chance.

I think this is probably the best picture all contest. Both characters look great. Rikku looks a lot better than she does in game which almost isn't fair, but Ryu is just so darn recognizable.
