I guess the main question to be answered: Rikku or Chun Li? I've got Chun Li, as I think she'll give Bowser a scare.

Bowser will probably have really high bracket support, thanks to the Spring Contest, as well. That means an early stomping from him before his percentage becomes aware of gravity.

Analysis

The Dream Division may have many hyped matches, but none of them are from the first round. The matches are still hyped since all of the characters are verse totally new characters and we still don’t know who’ll be the favorite to win. This is Bowser’s first of two Street Fighter matches he’ll be having.

People have been waiting for Chun-Li to make an appearance ever since the 2k3 contest was on, it may have token a few years, but she’s the fourth Street Fighter character to make it to the contest. She could’ve done very well or maybe even surprise us if she had a better first match. Sadly she’ll make an early round 1 exit.

With his great performance in a kind of wacky villains contest, Bowser has become the board and possibly the casual favorite on taking this division. Even though Ryu and most likely, Tidus were ahead of him by summer contest standards, Bowser is the most likely non-noble 9 character to take out Solid Snake from our BOP.

Like Mario, Yoshi and Luigi, Bowser has been in quite a few games since the last summer contest, but the most popular game he was in was Super Mario 64 DS, but like most Mario characters I don’t really see much of a boost for Bowser, unless Mario 128 turns out to be everything Super Mario Sunshine was hyped about and more.

So with 3 different Street Fighter characters that already been in the contest, things look really good for Chun-Li because all of their performances were really good and she really isn’t an unknown character either. She could be ranked at M. Bison’s strength, but I think that she would be closer to 2k2’s Ken which would put her at 24% at 2k4 Link IIRC, but that’s not too far from M. Bison either.

So how much did, if any did Bowser rise over the year? Well if you were like many people and made Sephiroth the base, you were in for a shock when Ganondorf did about 6% worse then what he was expected so then we’ve used Ganondorf as the base which would still give Bowser an almost 3% boost. Like I’ve said too many weird things happened during that contest and unless the character has a big difference between the two I wouldn’t recommend using the x-st.

The only way I will say that Bowser is the clear favorite for this division is if he breaks 70% against Chun-Li. I know she is new and untested, but unlike many untested characters she has numbers of three different characters to help us find her strength. Even though I have Bowser losing next round, I hope he takes the division.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Bowser over Chun-Li

charmander6000’s Prediction: Bowser wins, 57.63% - 42.37%

Yeah, that pic of Chun-Li is cool and all, but not very hot... I was a bit torn on who to vote for before this match, but I'm definately voting Bowser now, especially since I want him to look strong enough to beat Ryu... Chunners will probably break 40% pretty easily though, and as much as I like her, I'm really pulling for Bowser.

Not likely. This match is behind Ganondorf vs Yuna by over 5000 votes. Even passing Zelda vs Vivi isn't too likely. It should still crack 100k and take 3rd place though.

Good to see King upped his percentage the whole match against Tidus. Kirby will probably manage to do the same, unless stuffers mess up the balance.

Summer 2005 Contest - 12/14 points
Current Match Prediction: Bowser vs. Chun-Li
From: Haste2 | Posted: 8/1/2005 10:10:12 PM | Message Detail
I have a tough time believing Chun-Li could be stronger than Ken with that picture...not much TJF for her, and she seems slightly less popular than Ken by the fanbase anyway...

Ken of '02 is expected to get about 41.38% against '03 Bowser...I don't expect Street Fighter to have increased since then, either. So, it's looking likely Bowser will break 60% if Sp2K5 means anything.
