FF2us was released in 1991.
FF3us was released in 1994.
CT was released in 1995.

Considering CT was released so much closer to FF3us than FF2us was, why would Cecil's performace be more relavant than Crono's when trying to determine how strong Terra is?

truthfully, neither are relevant. if I had to pick one to gauge it by, I'd take Cecil over Crono though. if Terra was noble nine-worthy, she would've been in two years ago at the very least.

I'd expect Terra to triple Cecil easily, and probably quadruple him.

Keeping in mind that Terra comes rom a game that lacks a clear favorite. While Terra is probably most likely to be the strongest, you can make a good argument why characters like Celes or Shadow would be. This fact probably prevents Terra from getting too close to the Noble Nine and absoultey murders her in the nominations department, it doesn't rule out her being a strong character. Remember she doesn't need to be that close to Crono to beat Dante.

sc2k5 doesn't work for me right now, nope.

I'm not trying to argue Terra, because no one has any idea how strong she is. if I had to guess, Yuna sounds like a decent guess, but again that's a guess. she may be stronger than Dante and I wouldn't be surprised if she is, but saying she definitely is or isn't is a guess.

Assuming Ganondorf 2k5 = Ganondorf 2k3, Yuna is at 26.94% Base Link. That's less than half a percent off Dante's 2k4's 27.33%. Heh, that's an interesting coincidence.

Just wondering, how powerful would Rikku have to be (in terms of other characters, preferably a Final Fantasy character) to beat Ryu?

Just because that would be funny.

According to the adjusted stats, Ryu is ranked above the entire FFX cast (including Auron). She would have to be 2% stronger than the most popular character in her game and that's not gonna happen.

I don't think she'll be stronger than Yuna anyway. Holding Ganon constant and moving her up, she's a little below Dante. I'd call that her ceiling.

For Tidus to be at his 2k3 level, KoAC has to be at the level of Conker? That doesn't seem too farfetched to me.

I hope/think Tidus is at his 2k3 level, yet I think Conker pre-Xbox is just a lil' too high for KoaC to be at.

It does to me. KoAC game sold like crap. It was a cult classic.

Which, mind you, can be argued the same way for Conker pre-Xbox. The main difference here is that Conker is from Rare/Nintendo annd had a second game to his name...yes, Diddy Kong Racing; couldn't have done much of anything, but it doesn't hurt. It can also only help that Conker is a playable character as opposed to KoaC.

It's kinda weird that KoaC has vote totals so close to Big Boss.

I would think Big Boss would barely beat KoaC, or at least make it a close affair.

Yeah, God forbid we ever see a Tidus/Sephiroth match. ;)

That match would be so weird. I don't even wanna think about that, heh.

If Chun-Li gets somewhere in the neighborhood of 41-43% on Bowser tomorrow, everyone's going to get worried, yes.

Expecting 41%, myself. Maybe 42%.

Zelda or Tidus?

Tidus, though Zelda (much like Bowser/Ryu will) would give him a hell of a fight.

How many here would honestly take The King over Vyse?

Can't say that I would.

Vyse would rock the King by more than he did against Laharl.

Not so sure about that though. KoaC/Laharl would be a pretty good match in my book.

A Kirby boost and another Tidus decrease (both of which aren't outside the realm of possibility) will make it a toss-up at the very least.

Outside the realm of possibility, no, but I don't buy it yet. I can see Kirby makin' a small gain due to being a 1-seed and having a new highly-acclaimed DS title out, but nothing major...and I don't think Tidus ever suffered a first decrease (though him possibly decreasing from last year is possible).

I still figure Tidus takes the division...but I also figured Cecil > KoaC. Yeesh.

Apparently I am the only one rightfully putting stock in Tidus' showing against Ganondorf.

Don't think you're the only one; I'm living and dying by it until the Elite Eight, and I almost went with Tidus/Solid...almost.

And when I say delusional, I mean it in the same sense as with last year's Shadow backers and this year's Ridley backers.

*had backed both Shadow and Ridley*

Had I taken Diablo to the Final Four instead of Ridley, that perfect bracket would have been mine. Regardless, I don't think either picks were dillusional, though it's much easier to pick apart the logic in hindsight.

does anybody think Kirby could actually beat Shadow?

I don't think so, no.

We can't use Cecil as an indicator since he "can't" be that weak. Hell, we were thinking the same thing for Kuja...

Which is true, but it doesn't change the fact that what Kirby did was impressive in my eyes for now; when the contest's over, we'll see how impressive it really was.

it's too bad that ALL FOUR first round winners in the Dream Division had to face new characters in the first Round. after Wednesday, we will still have no idea who's gonna take this Division.

Not only that, but the same thing happened with the Gear Division (excluding Vivi/Zelda...and they were never in the same contest before this match). CJay simply HAD to have meant for this to happen.

Ken vs. Sora?

Sora would own the holy moly out of Ken. Well...not that bad, but it wouldn't ever be in doubt.

Just to note: Shadow 45% against Mario is not Shadow's strength.

LIAR! LIAR! LLLIIIAAARRR!!! ALL LIES!!!
From: HaRRicH | Posted: 8/1/2005 7:52:23 PM | Message Detail
Mario underperforms when the match isnt close

I don't buy that, not for a second.

Ken Masters vs. Tommy Vercetti?

Closer yet, but I'd still expect Ken to lose; Vercetti should win comfortably, though he might potentially lose an update to Ken.

Like I said there is no proof he didnt underperform against JC Denton. Joanna Dark is really the first blowout I think he performed up to snuff.

...and what's so different between Mario/JC and Mario/Joanna to make you believe there is that difference? Hell, I've argued that Mario mildly SFF'd Joanna; that might be why Mario looks right there to you if he really did. My assumption's that you have too high of expectations for Mario here if that turns out to be the case (which is a shame that Mario isn't a champion here, but that's besides the point).

Yeeeah, Terra=Kirby? You have just lost all credibility with me my good man. I cannot wait until Dante pummels Terra and everyone finally realizes that FFVI is NOT strong because of its characters.

I don't know if I still would (it'd be 50-50), but, had Cecil and Terra switched places in the brackets, I would have taken Terra over Kirby.

As for today's match, damn you Tidus. At least get the King down to 27% or below again with the night-vote.

Because JC Denton is basically Tanner with a different name. I believe he is even from a less popular game (Dead to Rights right?). Fact is if a JC Denton/Guybrush match took place, despite the extremely low vote totals, I expect Guybrush to pull it out. GUYBRUSH. Joanna however finished right around I thought she would. Of course it could be some mild form of SFF, but who knows.

Because JC Denton is basically Tanner with a different name.

I don't think you realize just how weak Tanner is. JC Denton is projected to beat Tanner with almost 85%. It's absurd to believe Mario would under perform anywhere near the amount neccessary to put JC Denton near Tanner.

I believe he is even from a less popular game (Dead to Rights right?).

Deus Ex.

Fact is if a JC Denton/Guybrush match took place, despite the extremely low vote totals, I expect Guybrush to pull it out. GUYBRUSH. Joanna however finished right around I thought she would. Of course it could be some mild form of SFF, but who knows.

This is all based on personal expectations. Just look at the last few matches to see just how usuful personal expectations are.

I meant that very few people here could tell me who JC Denton is and what he is about which is same as Tanner. Im sure he had a little more character development than Tanner and probably quite a bit more popular.

This entire argument got really sidetracked from Shadow overperforming against Mario. Does anyone really believe Shadow is that strong?

I do, seeing as how Tidus/Shadow was very close to how it should have been. Of course, Mega/Tidus puts that into jeopardy, but I think the anomaly's in Mega/Tidus long before I think it was in Mario/Shadow.

I may think Solid Snake dropped. No way I think Solid Snake in two years goes from beating Sonic 51.5-48.5 to losing to Shadow by a similiar amount when Shadow has no reason to increase at all.
