Sora completely bombed in that match, personally. He barely broke 70% against a character with no name recognition despite having well over 85% of brackets behind him.

I guess Ganondorf really bombed then, considering he had 86% of the brackets behind him and STILL underperformed by more than 3% against Yuna.

And how can you say Agent 47 has no name recognition? Have you PLAYED Hitman, Ulti?

I voted, saw the huge lead and said to myself "I wonder what kind of Dante > Terra arguments are being made in the stats topic? I bet the people who have Terra are claiming this means absolutely nothing." and wham, whaddya know?

this is sad. Cecil > all FF heroes.

you know, after seeing what happened in Zelda/Vivi, I'm scared of any Nintendo/Square match when I pick Square. especially when I had Kirby in my bracket until two days before lockdown.

It's been a long time since I have played FFIV but Cecil never struck me as a particularly memorable character. I doubt the rest of the cast will do any better in this contest though.

whoa. Cecil is getting absolutely pounded in the rear. this does look bad for Terra. and Tidus will definitely have his work cut out for him next round. Cecil could just be worthless fodder, but man, Nintendo is starting to look unstoppable.

You honestly think Terra is almost as well known as Squall and Tidus? How can you believe that?

...because FFVI is more popular than FFX or FFVIII, obviously. Now, post-KH Squall would likely be stronger, but I can definitely see Terra > Tidus.

I'm guessing you've never played the hitman series before. Aside from that hitman 2 is a million seller in north america. It's not like agent 47 did well. He barely ranks as high end fodder, and he's below max payne using a static sora, so how exactly did Sora do badly? Just because agent 47 wears a suit doesn't mean that ties his strength to tanner you know.

Your comment about bracket support is highly irrelevant. Zelda had 75% of the brackets on her side, does that mean getting about 60% on Vivi wasn't impressive? Of course not.

Heh, at this rate we could go until MC vs. DK with no Nintendo characters losing to non-Nintendo characters.

The only one of the nintendo vs square matches that was really ever in doubt at all before the match was zelda/vivi and that didn't turn out close at all. i wouldn't exactly say that nintendo has done anything to hint at them being stronger, all they've done is perform up to expectations.

I'd disagree. Zelda absolutely killed Vivi even surpassing the expectations of the most confident of people in their zelda pick. Ness was expected to lose to CJ without a fight and ended up winning comfortably.

To think Ness would lose without a fight was just ignorance.

Hell, my original prediction was CJ with 56%. And after Ness won I went back and checked it out. And thought hey, that was really stupid of me. Completely my fault. Had I done my research, I'd know the match could have gone either way >_<

To think Ness would lose without a fight was just ignorance.

But a lot of people, myself included, still thought it, ignorant or not. I expected CJ to have a Vercetti like performance at the very least, but Ness surprised us all. I don't think many of the people with Ness winning even expected him to get 55% of the vote.

what's interesting is that square's first victory over nintendo will be squall against geno. i don't know why peope say final fantasy alway wins because nintendo are in a way stronger. and why do more people complain when cloud wins and don't say anything when link wins? link is virtually unbeatable yet people resent cloud more than the current champion.

Well, by pure statistics, Ness Vs. CJ was supposed to be harder to call than Vercetti Vs. Kefka. Yet, for some reason, everyone discounted Ness on the spot whereas Kefka got a lot of support.

True or false? Cecil is performing worse then he normally would due to that pic.

I'm going to have to go with true. Seriously, this pic is about as unrecognisable as can be. If I didn't follow the contest and was just passing through the home page I'd probably think that it was some other Cecil, and not the one from FFIV.

I can say this is pretty sad for my oracle prediction. Last match got me up to the 12th place and I'm going way down with Kirby doing so well. Also, I don't care what people may think about Cecil being knew or anything, but IMO Kirby looks great vs. Tidus now. But I have Tidus > Kirby ;___;

Cecil, with arguably the worst picture I have seen in my two years here, is getting destroyed. And I would bet a taco that the miscarriage of justice that is that meta-cecil picture is costing him AT LEAST 5%. Why? Because it does not even look like a freakin' person.

I knew Kirbay wouldn't have any trouble clearing 60%. But damn, this is just a beat down. I have Tidus winning next round, but I seriously think Kirby could pull that one off, especially with such a good performance today.

This performance today also doesn't speak good things for Terra. I'm glad I switched to Dante in that one. Nintendo is looking like a beast this year.

Cecil 24.41% 8289
TOTAL VOTES 33954

Kirby's using that awesome picture and Nintendo's star power to rack up the day vote.

Kirby is arguably a bit stronger then Dante.

Especially looking at today's match. Has a Square character EVER taken a worse beating than this? It's insane. Kirby could possibly finish in the Top 20 in the X-Stats after the contest ends if this continues. Jesus.

If Cecil finishes at 25% He'll be below Sin from the VC and Gordon Freeman from the regular contest.

it sure looks like new-school >>> old-school FF characters. I'd have pegged Cecil to be around Ramza's level, but he's making Ramza look Cloudlike with this performance. Ramza would get 71.14% on Cecil assuming a static Kirby (which is almost definitely not the case, but the number is entertaining). Squall would get 77.79%. I can't imagine Squall tripling anybody.

Wow...hot-damn. At this rate, Cecil'll finish at 13.44% in the all-time stats. Just to compare with afew characters if Kirby stays at 75.56% (who, by coincidence, are all from the Villain Contest):

84 Sin 16.15
91 Ultros 15.30
103 Master Hand 13.44
113 Kuja Tribal 12.43

Being equal to Master Hand isn't something to be proud of...unless you're facing Kuja, heh. Anyways, would anybody take Cecil over Ultros?
