Cecil looks nice, but the thing is Kirby looks great also. Warp Star > you.

I'm thinking gravity could be what crushes Kirby. These things aren't exactly static, you know. ;)
Cecil looks like Zombie #18 from your favorite horror game. Advantage Kirby.

Cecil looks horrible. But at least he got a dark knight picture, I
guess... but it looks really bad. Is that what they used in the cinema
scenes added in FF Chronicles?
If so I'm very disappointed with that.

I checked on Google, and believe it or not, that isn't a 3d rendering
of dark knight cecil at all. It's just the official art for dark knight
cecil.

That's just the Amano art. The FMV Cecil doesn't look like that at all. His armor is a little more bluish and he doesn't look as..."undead".
I can't wait for the Tidus/KoaC pic.
I can't wait either. We can all look forward to the inevitable fact that KoaC is going to look more bad-ass than Tidus while wearing purple tights. 'Tis true.

I like Terra's Amano art better than that anorexic creation that's in
the FFVI FMVs... At least people who've played FFIII on the SNES are
FAMILIAR with the Amano art since that was the official art used back
in those days. It may not necessarily look all that good though....

Actually the vast majority of people who played it on the SNES won't be
familiar with it at all, as either they won't have looked at the
instruction book in depth back in the day or will have totally
forgotten about it.
The only people familiar with it will be people around these topics, that have discussed the pictures.

They still would be more familiar with the Amano art than they would by
the FMV. Of course, I'm not saying that they wouldn't be able to figure
out who everyone is in FMV form. I'm just talking about familiarity.

That's the ONLY pic I could find of Cecil from the FF Chronicles FMV. I'm surprised that pic is so hard to find. I could have sworn I saw it plastered all over the place when FF Chronicles first came out...

That's the best you're gonna get from the FFC FMV. It's not much though. That whole FMV sequence was pretty crappy, especially when compared to the Chrono Trigger opening CG sequence. Even FFV and especially FFVI's FMV were much better than FFVI's....

Analysis
Wow this is our third Nintendo vs. Square match so far and we aren’t even done half of the first round, this was much better compare to last summer where we only had one of those match and it wasn’t even that interesting. With eight divisions this year and with no Clinkeroth Kirby has gotten a 1 seed, but will he act like one? Of course not, Kirby is looking at another round 2 exit, but Cecil could give him a hard time tomorrow or maybe not.
Let’s welcome Cecil who’s from the oldest Final Fantasy that’s been in a contest so far (you may put Kefka before, but he’s from VI not III). So what does that mean for contest strength? Well the weakest Final Fantasy character to be in this contest would be Ramza (or is it? *points to Kirby, Bomberman and Alucard increasing*), but Kefka probably would be the best base for Cecil since they were from old-school Final Fantasy.
Using last year’s number Kirby was supposed to get 60.15% on Kefka. I would probably rank Cecil below Kefka since Final Fantasy VI is much more popular then IV, but I wouldn’t rank him too far away. So from the looks of it Kirby has a great chance on breaking 60% on Cecil tomorrow. I also don’t think Cecil could rank below Kain so a doubling is almost out of the question.
Nothing much has really happened to Kirby during this past year, but he did get a new game for the DS which has been given much love, but like most handheld games it’s probably not going to help Kirby as much as I want it to help him. I would probably rank Kirby constant between the years. Also don’t forget that Kirby was in a line of SFF last year (which is why most of our predictions are wacky), hopefully it will be ok, but if worse comes to worse Kirby could fall back to his 2k3 numbers.
So where does this lead us? Well if Kirby did fall back to his 2k3 numbers, which is unlikely as of now I can see him falling short on breaking 60%. Now using his 2k4 numbers Kirby will break 60%, but I also don’t think Cecil will fall below Kain so I also think he’ll be below 65%. With already three NvS matches I’m still surprised that we still haven’t gotten any nail bitters between them.

charmander6000’s Prediction: Kirby wins, 61.94% - 38.06%

If it's FF4 Kain, I think we can be pretty sure that Cecil will lose by roughly the same amount.
But I'm guessing it's vampire Kain?

Cecil joins the Contest for his first time. Will he join the ranks of Cloud, Squall and Tidus as a strong FF hero?
“Kirby vs. some Final Fantasy hero guy not named Cloud, Squall or Tidus? Easy choice!”
No, BAD BRACKET-MAKER PERSON! What is your name, child?
“I’m Billy! Billy the Average Bracketmaker!”
Ok Billy, now I know you want to go put Kirby as the winner of this match in an instant because he is the 1-seed of the division, and facing a FF Hero not named Cloud, Squall or Tidus.
“That’s right! Kirby will crush that guy 80-20!”
Woah there Billy, let’s not get carried away with ourselves now. Kirby is a pretty decent competitor in these Contests, but you can’t underestimate Cecil like that. Cecil might be the hero of one of the less-popular Final Fantasy games, but remember, this is GameFAQs. FF4 still is somewhat popular here. Cecil could very well upset Kirby.
“Oh no! Now I don’t know what to do! Help me!!!”
Oh, that’s alright Little Billy. Cecil would have to be quite the shocker in strength to upset Kirby. Kirby should win the match, but expect Cecil to put up Ramza-like numbers on him. Ramza was the lead character in FFT, which is a bit more popular on GameFAQs than FF4, but one could argue that Cecil is a more popular hero than Ramza was, so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. Also, let’s not forget Kirby has had Canvas Curse come out recently, one of the biggest games on the DS, this could also help out the Puffball a bit.
“Thanks Mister, now I know what to do!”
And knowing is only half the battle, my child.
Moltar’s Bracket Says: Kirby will win.
Moltar’s Prediction is: Kirby: 62% - Cecil: 38%
Ulti’s Analysis
Cecil is another lower tier Square character that got in due to their being no company cap in this contest, but unfortunately, he gets the shaft by being an 8 seed in his first ever match. And if CJayC is true to form, Cecil might get stuck with the Amano pic we saw on the character introduction page. It'll be a moral victory if Cecil can somehow beat Ramza's score of 42.34%, but somehow I doubt he'll come close. Final Fantasy 4 isn't nearly as well-known as FFT on GameFAQs and isn't held in nearly the same regard. Cecil will be lucky to avoid a doubling, especially with the match picture I think he'll get. He also has to deal with Canvas Curse recently coming out in Kirby's favor.
Prediction: Kirby with 67.24%
Tnote’s Analysis
A few people think this has good upset potential, and I cannot discredit them, given the success Final Fantasy has enjoyed here at GameFAQs. However, I have never played FFIV (V?), so I cannot hop on the Cecil Bandwagon. However, you need to have a lot going for you to overthrow a one-seed, and I cannot see Cecil possessing such momentum. All this being said, Cecil could potentially suffer from a crappy picture, but no matter what I will be shocked if this one goes more than 60/40 in favor of everyone’s favorite swallower.
Pick: Kirby with 58.27%

Soul’s Analysis
We kick off the Dream division (AKA Nightmare Division*) with a rather easy match. Kirby returns with a bang by snatching a 1 seed over Magus, Ganondorf and even Crono. Cecil, yet another Final Fantasy character, debuts as an 8 seed.
Cecil is from FFIV (4 for you people who dislike Roman Numerals). I've never played it, and I rarely have heard about it. In fact, for the longest time I thought the series went from 3/6 to 7, and just skipped 4 and 5. Since I know very little about this game, I'm guessing that Cecil is the main hero.
One thing that's good about this contest is that we'll see the strength of almost every Final Fantasy game here. As of right now, Final Fantasy 4 is barely talked about, and I'm betting that it's hardly known to the hardcore FF7+ fans of the series. So, I'm thinking that Kirby could look a lot stronger then he/she/it actually is.
My prediction: Kirby wins with 75.00%. Right down the middle with this one. (^'-')> Hi! <('-'^)
*Nightmare Division courtesy of Wylvane.
Outback’s Analysis
Another 1/8 match. I've seen a few people saying that this could be interesting, but, quite honestly, they're crazy. Kirby beat Ramza with 57.66, and I can't even see Cecil at Ramza's level, and that, coupled with the supposed Nintendo boost we've seen this year, will get Kirby over 60%.
Kirby with 62.22%
Inviso’s Analysis
While I was writing this up, I started sing the “Pup Named Scooby Doo” theme song, only using Kirby instead of Scooby. Kirby dirby, Kirby dirby doo, Kirby dirby, Kirby dirby doo. Anyway, Kirby’s a one seed, much to the anger of ertyu, because as we all know…Kirby es dum. Anyway, Kirby’s first match is an easy one. The pink puffball is taking on Cecil, the star of Final Fantasy IV. Kirby has spawned the numerous emoticons worldwide and is Metool’s hero. He’s been classified as one of the cutest characters of all time, and is also one of the board’s favorite characters. Meanwhile, Cecil is from a Final Fantasy game that A. is not 3D, thus losing it popularity and B. is not FFVI, thus losing it even more popularity. Cecil just doesn’t have the power of other Final Fantasy characters and really shouldn’t have taken another spot in the contest to add to Square’s many representatives. The Final Fantasy name will keep him from suffering that badly, but Kirby has this in the bag.

Vlado’s Analysis
We have an interesting match at hand here. Well... It would've been interesting, if we didn't already know how badly old school Final Fantasies do in GameFAQs contests... Kefka is their flagship, and even he once again proved to be extremely weak with his loss against Diablo in the spring. I'm absolutely certain that Cecil will be weaker than Kefka, he's from a more obscure Final Fantasy and, despite being the main, he's hardly the most memorable character in his own game. It's a damn miracle Cecil managed to actually make it, as I didn't really see any support for him during the nomination stage. He's from a Final Fantasy, but I doubt most Final Fantasy fans would even know that... Leading me to believe that he would be very weak, probably around Laharl's level, if not worse.
Kirby showed some growth in 2004, compared to the previous two years and I think he'll have gotten even stronger, even if we just take Nintendo's significant increase into account. Despite everything, I think Kirby was seriously overseeded in this division and that he's certainly nowhere near Bowser or Ryu. In fact, I think this will be Kirby's last win in the tourney, as Tidus is a far better recognized Final Fantasy protagonist than Cecil. If there's any justice in the world, Tidus will defeat Kirby, and with a margin that proves that Shadow the Hedgehog > Kirby. However, in this particular match, Kirby will have it easy.
Predicted percentage: Kirby with 72.33%.

Sora getting past snake and ryu/bowser/tidus? I'd call those people insane, but that's just me.
Sora's got a plenty-realistic shot at making the Final Four, even if several other character have a lil' more realistic shot, heh. If Sora was able to beat Solid or Zelda, it's not unreasonable to think he could beat Bowser or Ryu, too; he'd just have to hope he didn't fight Tidus if Aeris/Sora is a sign of anything.
Sora is definitely underperforming worse than Alucard did.
The Hitman series has sold a million or two (maybe a lil' more?), whereas God Of War has got about 600,000 sales (goin' by memory). Agent 47 has had multiple games, whereas Kratos has only one. Alucard allowed Kratos to get 44+%. Sora is keeping Agent 47 under 30%.
I realize Kratos would beat Agent 47 down, but with all things considered, you'd be hard-pressed to say Sora's underperforming even worse than Alucard. Keep in mind that he's making Agent look noticably weaker than an optional character from an Xbox RPG. That's not bad...not bad.
No, Alucard gained. He did beat Kirby and Ramza
First, the contest...now, the statement. Is Bomberman goin' to be snubbed any more?

Kirby/Cecil is an awesome picture.
If Cecil got Amano art, then things aren't looking so good for Terra.
True, though Cecil still got a nice picture.

first of all, that Kirby/Cecil pic is ******* awesome. especially
Cecil's pic. that pic will definitely get him more votes than his lousy
Paladin pic that was on the user profile page. i do have to admit that
is a pretty sweet pic of Kirby, too, but that Dark Knight pic is the
best pic Cecil could have gotten.
and, even though there are other options for Terra, i seriously doubt she will get any pictures other than her Amano pic after seeing both Kefka and Cecil get their Amano pics.
she might get one of these two pics from the FMV:
http://heat_4.tripod.com/Final_Fantasy_files/Terra_Branford1098212033602.jpg
http://purplepuff0.tripod.com/terra.jpg
but seeing how Ceej loves to use the Amano artwork, i bet that she will get this pic:
http://yourpage.blazenet.net/carusos/Images/terra6.jpg
the Amano one is probably the least appealing and least recognizable of the three pics, but it's still not that bad, especially compared to Lettuce Kefka.

I'm very conflicted about this match. This is one of the few matches where I have feelings that are contradictory.
I could see Cecil getting just over 40%, or getting only about 32%. I have some feelings that he wil overperform; and other feelings that say he just won't be that strong. I can't predict this match at all.

People really expect Cecil to be weaker than Kain...?
Lucid keeps bringing up that comparing characters across years is pretty stupid, and I tend to agree. It's very possible that Cecil could be stronger than Kain, but do worse in the poll.
Now granted, my writeup looks like ass after the pic that Ceej gave to Cecil.
