I'm curious. When Riku gave Frog a close match, people said it proved that Frog was weak (and that Snake was going to flop hard) even though Riku was a new character to the contest. Yet when Kratos gives Alucard a close match, people attribute it to the new character's strength and not Alucard's weakness. Why isn't Riku being acknowledged as a strong character?

because the majority of the people in this topic picked Alucard over Sora and are still trying to justify their pick. =P

Riku is going to get a much bigger boost from KH2 than Sora is, I think. CoM leads us to believe that Riku is going to be totally awesome in it...

Oh, and Games vs. Characters? That would be seriously overlittered with Square and Nintendo, right? Even worse than the current brackets? Imagine Cloud, Squall, Final Fantasy IX, and Chrono Trigger in the same fourpack... o.O

I love Alucard and if I had my way he'd make it as far as Vincent before losing but I knew he couldn't actually beat Sora. I knew the same baout Zelda/Vivi as well. Being right doesn't make seeing my favorites lose any better, but it does make me right.

A) We don't know how strong Kratos really is.
B) The only place Alucard should logically go from last years XStats is up due to a likely underestimation of Ganondorf.
C) Sora hasn't even had a match yet, though I do expect him to have gained a little bit. This will draw him equal to Alucard's real value, allowing for a great round 2 match.
D) There is a SOTN remake out due in two weeks... How could that NOT help Alucard?

Considering Sora has had a new game, a higher seed, and a weaker first-round opponent that'll leave him with some spare potential bracket-support...Sora should have been the "favorite" all along, even if the stats show Alucard barely bein' ahead (I think that's right).

And Sora has been the favorite all along. It's been that way ever since the bracket was revealed. However, I chose Alucard because when I was going through my standard "fill out the bracket in two minutes before looking at anything" run, Alucard/Sora in round 2 was a no-brainer. It was one of those matches where I didn't even need to contemplate scratching my head over the outcome; almost a Zero/Hayabusa type of match. Maybe I completely forgot about Sora's nice performance on Samus in 2004, maybe I was overestimating Alucard, or maybe I was just too busy looking at porn at the same time, but I decided to stick with my gut.
