You know what, right now I'm dying to see a Zelda vs. Aeris/Tifa match.

I'm really curious if the results would closely resemble Link vs. Cloud.

DKAHACM. I think it'll be alot closer than expected but DK should pull out a victory.

It'd be hard to see a big Ganon increase if Yuna increased alot, too.

Not saying she did, but judgin' Ganon off of his match with Yuna isn't the way to go.

Not only that, but unlike Gannon she has actually appeared in the TP Trailers looking rather cool.

She was in actual trailers? I thought she was just in artwork...

Yes she is in the trailers in possibly the coolest looking scene shown so far.

That would mean that Yuna would have had to get an enormous boost to cancel out anything Ganondorf got and then some. We're talking beyond the KHF here.

But Magus isn't the villain of CT, Lavos is, and I would argue that Marle or Lucca could outperform Lavos.

Actually, that was also a bad example.
I forgot that CT doesn't have a central villain either.

Lavos may be the "main" villain, but it doesn't play any direct role throughout the game other than being the final boss.

Another problem is that we're assuming Ganon would have gained as much as Zelda appears to have, too. That very well may not be the case. Regardless, Link had arguably gained alot from it...and, even more so, Link/Ganon/Zelda are not connected at the hip, so it's hard to compare their gains to one-another.

I'm torn...with MGS3 presumably giving Snake a small boost, that should put give him a small advantage over Zelda extrapolated-wise, and I don't think Ganondorf would beat Solid Snake by much. The problem is...well, look at Snake vs. Frog.

It doesnt make since for Link to make huge gains and Zelda/Ganon not to make any at all. If he is making gains for more exposure of the series, then those two should atleast increase somewhat.

I think Zelda's increase is fueled by what increased Link last year.

A certain Zelda game packaged with the GC, as well as hype from TP.

Well, 2003 Sam > DK based on Vivi through 2003 Zelda

I still think Sam overperformed in 2k3 because he had the higher seed and over 40% of the brackets (he must have had bracket voting for him). Also, he was a new character back then and his game was hyped. It's no surprise that interest in him has died down since.

Also here is fuel for thought for those thinking Link SFFd Mega Man.

If you believe that, shouldn't Mega Man SFFd Zelda for the same exact reason? I dont believe that, because it makes Lara drop even bigger, but if SFF goes between Link/MM it should go between MM/Zelda.

I think this is more a case of Vivi seriously bombing (caused by what I suspect to be an overperformance last year) than of Zelda gaining. While I do think she has gained strength (along with many others high profile Nintendo characters), I don't think it's enough to make a consistent Vivi look this bad.

Not necessarily. Ganondorf didn't look any stronger at all in 2004. Don't tell me he had a delayed boost or something like that. I ain't believin' that.

But if Link AND Zelda both make huge jumps, I can't see why Ganon wouldn't as well.

No there isnt. Even as I argue Link couldnt increase without Zelda/Gannon. He could. But Link/Zelda could increase without Gannon for the same reason. If this year has proven anything its characters are hand tied to other characters in the series.

Yes, I know characters aren't joined at the hip. However, Link and Zelda BOTH making huge jumps would imply more of an increase of the series in general, meaning Ganon should at least benefit somewhat.

There's no doubt in my mind that Zelda gained something. The question becomes how much. I don't really buy into Ganondorf > Zelda, though I don't think it's impossible. I don't buy Vivi being lower than 2k3 DK, either. I'm thinking a nice 3% increase for Zelda, similar but a little smaller than what Link got last year, which puts her at 33.29%. That moves Vivi down 2.26% (adj) or .86% (unadj) to 26.84% In the Knuckles area.

Where this gets interesting is Snake, of course. If he's at his unadjusted value, he needs to match Zelda's increase. With MGS3 and MGA, he has the potential to do it. I don't think he could, but then I still think the 20XXDF adjustment is mostly valid so I don't think that's an issue.

If Snake is at his 20XXDF value, that would put him dead even with Zelda, and if he gets anything from MGS3/A it would put him over the top. He managed to lose 3-5% the year Twin Snakes exposed him to a new audience, so who knows what he'll get.

In conclusion, I don't have a conclusion. I still think Zelda is the favorite against Snake, but not by much at all.

Nah, I say Snake is the favorite to take the division until he falls. Zelda has to prove she's gained the necessary strength to win. Beating a character who was behind SFF last year doesn't necessarily prove that to me.
