Maybe have the different number requirement (2's, 3's primes) for different "costumes", but then that might get too involved...

Hey Leonhart, you didn't BUY Samurai Legend did you?

Unfortunately, I did. I got a little too excited about it and made an impulse purchase. I'm gonna force myself to finish it one of these days. I got pretty close before I got tired of it.

Seriously, anybody who complains about how bad the voice acting is in FFX should play SLM.

As big a Brave Fencer Musashi fan I am, I just don't trust anything Square throws out this generation outside of Kingdom Hearts. I was hyped as all hell for SLM, but I just didn't trust them even if it LOOKED like it could be better than the first.

I thoroughly read EVERY review I could for it and got turned off. I rented the game HOPING that everyone would be wrong... It was all true though. What a waste. PS1 Square was just so much better. Even the games I don't like (Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story) were still tolerable.

Vagrant Story was much more of a hardcore RPG-gamer's dream. It was well-made in terms of both system and mechanics with a pretty decent story. i can see where people would get turned off by it though. Definitely wouldn't apeeal to the average gamer.

I don't have faith in Kerrigan/Vincent being close...at ALL. I cannot see Kerrigan gettin' more than 45%, and that's a wild stretch.

MM, what two matches are our sig-bets on? I know one's Tifa/Luigi...was the other Kerrigan/Vincent or Dante-or-Terra/Vincent?

I think Luigi vs KOS-MOS will be surprisingly one sided. I'm thinking like, 55-57% for Luigi really.

The sig bet was that if both Tifa and Vincent got past the second round, I lose, and if niether of them do, I win. If only one does, it was nulled.

Summer 2005 Contest - 8/9 points
Current Match Prediction: Vivi vs. Zelda
From: therealmnm | Posted: 7/27/2005 7:53:38 PM | Message Detail
Meh... Vagrant Story. Excellent Story. Excellent weapons/armor system. Great puzzle/dungeon design.

But the RISK battle system COMPLETELY sucked. If you're gonna be psuedo real time, at least do it RIGHT. Parasite Eve 1 is an excellent example. As far as Vagrant Story, the whole battle system was broken. Unless you put a LOT into it, combos were basically uninspired... in other words boring. There was no skill in evading attacks. You're free to move around, but if an enemy decides it wants to hit you, there's nothing you can do.

*SPOILERS*
And for all the time I spent customizing and making the perfect weapons, it still didn't pay off. The last boss comes to mind. The last fight takes place on a roof where the boss circles around the roof as he fights you. But for some reason, the boss was SCARED of me. He didn't even attack me and spent 95% of the fight running away from me. So my evil affinity sword and my OTHER evil affinity weapon were completely useless. I ended up having to use a crossbow on him that barely took off any damage. And since the boss was too scared to even get close to attack me, I had to etch off his HP with the crossbow. Most. Boring. Fight. Ever. It took forever for me to finally kill him.

Vagrant Story has one of the best stories in any of the games I've played. But the battle system killed it.
