Yeah, I don't know what the hell is going on anymore, to be honest. Especially after my weekend... nothing like driving six hours then blowing a tire (and not having a spare) in the middle of the desert then playing Magic for what felt like a bajillion hours before drivign another six hours. You'd think I would be so tired that I'd want to nothing but sleep and you'd be correct... actually sleeping though? Nah, who needs it?

Oh, and being transposed into an Ultros quote makes me the coolest motha ****** in this topic, even if I am the the most brain dead at the moment.

Oh goodness, Snake's looking like absolute horse feces, both on the pic and on the poll. Can't get the day vote against Manny Calavera of all people? Miserable. I have Snake going to the Final 4, but I wouldn't shed a tear if he were to go out next round.

Oh, I totally want to see Shake's reaction.

Yeah. Sad. I almost expected Manny to be weaker than Guybrush.

But apparently not even close. Either that or Snake is stinking even worse than 2004.

I'm loving this. Manny is doing well, Snake is doing horrible, and Bowser is lookin' very nice for his final four appearance over Snake. <3

That's assuming, of course, he doesn't lose to Zelda, or Vivi, next round. I doubt he would, but it should be very close.

He's actually performing very similar to his 2004 unadjusted level, if Manny is equal to Guybrush.

I'll ****ing laugh if he gets kicked out of the Noble Nine despite Clinkeroth freeing up three new spaces. That would simply be delightful.

Board 8: Where people treat each other right.
From: jonthomson | Posted: 7/27/2005 7:33:01 AM | Message Detail
Seeing how with normal 16-character divisions we'd be finished with one division now, here's my take on who the winners and losers are so far:

1) Ness - a clear winner so far. Tipped by many to go out first round in what was clearly the toughest match to call so far, he takes down the star of the San Andreas juggernaut, and by a comfy margin with numbers similar to his previous victory over Jak. Sure he'll be annihilated in the next round but who cares?

2) Samus - probably the winner of the intra-Nintendo posturing battle with Mario so far, taking the fodder opponent and smashing it to pieces, with a new percentage record for the Zebes division favourite and nearly holding Yuri under 10K.

3) Auron - the potential strength of Big Boss varied depending on who you asked. Personally I thought Auron wouldn't manage a doubling, but instead he took over 70% of the votes and managed more votes than Ganondorf despite having a lot less to work with.

4) Mario - Ending up with over 80% is never a bad result, and Mario does what he's supposed to, grabbing 80K+ votes on the way to an easy win.

5) Albert Wesker - what you say? But he lost? Maybe he did, but the unfancied 7-seed stayed within 10% of Lloyd after being dismissed as fodder after an embarrassing doubling by Kefka in the Spring. The next round will tell us if Lloyd is just weak, but in any case Wesker came out better in this one.

6) Ganondorf - Got through his match, the first to get over 100K votes. The result didn't inspire confidence, but it's a comfortable enough victory.

7) Zero - Probably didn't do as well against Ryu as expected, but the stats we're basing that off are somewhat screwy. A comfortable margin of victory was obtained and is a clear favourite to get as far as Mario.

8) Frog - can never make it through easily, just about scraping together a 3000 vote victory, not the sort of performance you want before facing Samus.

9) Riku - it's never easy when a tournament newcomer faces a veteran, but putting up over 45000 votes in defeat is not to be sniffed at. Riku's true strength will be determined after Frog-Samus, as Frog's erratic results are somewhat misleading, although grabbing over 48% looks alright on paper at the moment.

10) Lloyd Irving - dropped the ball here. Given a cushy 2-seed and an easy looking opponent, he doesn't even manage 55% and looks in serious trouble against Zero in the next round, as opposed to simply big trouble beforehand. Still, a win is a win I guess.

11) Yuna - did somewhat better than expected, keeping Ganondorf under 60% for a while and looking respectable enough in defeat.

12) Ryu Hayabusa - avoiding a doubling will probably go down as a moral victory, but hasn't convinced me that it's worth bringing him back next year.

13) Carl Johnson - would have been lower than this, were it not for the fodder that was floating around this division. 44000 votes isn't terrible but didn't cut it against Ness.

14) Big Boss - The strength of anything Metal Gear related that doesn't begin with Solid and end with Snake is questionable. Liquid's stats are all over the place, all we know of Ocelot is from the Spring at the present, and most people don't rate them as worth the paper they're printed on. Big Boss? Allowed Auron to pick up a first doubling, something Scorpion, Ness and even Tails avoided.

15) Joanna Dark - probably just happy to make the contest. 19% against Mario is better than some thought, but still plants her in the fodder category.

16) Yuri - Fairly obscure RPG character + contest powerhouse = barely managing five figures in votes. Bye.

samus was leading yuri by about 300 votes less than snake is leading manny at the 9 hour mark. the only one who comes closer is mario's lead on joanna

Current Match Prediction: Solid Snake vs. Manny Calavera
From: RPGuy96 | Posted: 7/27/2005 9:09:48 AM | Message Detail
On the subject of Zelda/Lara Croft, if Lara Croft is constant between 2k2 and 2k3 (21.18%, after removing Crono cheat votes) and suffered her full fall in 2k4, Zelda is at 28.08% on 2k3 Link.

On Vivi's side, if Donkey Kong was 1% stronger in 2k4 than his was in 2k3 (26.54%), then Vivi is at 30.25%.
