Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 170

Snake hits 80%

Tanner also didn't have massive baord support. Snake won't reach 90%, but he's looking for 85+.

Getting quadded in under 10 minutes when ur a board pushed character is a ridculous showing.

What are you, nuts? I bet there's maybe 15 people on the entire board that have even played Grim Fandango.

If there were only 15 people on Board 8 who ahve played Grim Fandango, Manny would not be in. There were at least 30 Board noms for him alone in the topic where people named them.

Shake had people nominate Manny, not many had actually HEARD of him.

Also, it had to end up being far more than 30 noms.
Terra secured almost a century on the board alone. Top that wit the fact that I'd expect ehr to have more front page support than Manny, I'm sure the board noms Manny had were clsoer to that figure. So barring a move in which CJC dropped Terra 2-3 seeds, Manny clearly has a following here.

I find it damn strange that over 86% of the brackets had Ganon over Yuna, while only 77% had Auron over BB.

MGS over-restimation, or people looked into Ganon's performance in the Finals of the Spring Contest a bit much?

I'd imagine that a lot of people put stock in the Spring Contest results. I wouldn't expect a high percentage in favor of Ganon over Auron, though I may be wrong.

It has to be the Spring Contest performance. Ganon obliterated everyone in his path and overperformed against Sephiroth. I'm expecting Bowser to garner impressive bracket support because of this as well.

Ceej has written a FAQ for Grim Fandango, mind. And do you really think that Guybrush got enough noms to be a 10 seed last year?

As for Terra, I think Ceej stacked the Devil Division on purpose. And he has a grudge against Knuckles for some reason.

This match isn't going to tell us anything about Solid Snake's strength at all. He could hit 90%, and I really wouldn't be worried about my Bowser > Snake pick in the least. Just look at last year.

He got 19/34 of the votes in that topic so far. That seems way skewed compared to the 82/18 were seeing right now. I consider that "support." Nominations aren't the final gauge.

All I said is that Manny has some semblence of board support. It's not CATS level but its there. His percentage of votes from the boards are not going to reflect 82/18.

Thus, that makes his 18% right now pitiful, and not something to be astonished at.

I guess I just held higher expectations... =) Grim Fandango is the stuff.

At this early stage of the poll, all it takes is one or two Manny votes to "stall" him.

you have extremely high hopes. Manny is fodder that no one's ever heard of. the only way he does better than 15% is if people anti-vote Snake to hell, because no one's ever heard of him. he's the definition of fodder.

that said, this is fun to watch. he's doing better than most of us could have hoped for.

Manny is doing fairly well. People would not have expected Snake to take 9 minutes to break 80%. Fodder usually doesn't hold out that long; that's just history.
