At least they don't matter when the character is highly recognizable by name alone.

Pics really dont matter all that much.
The difference they make isn't a large one, but it's still a difference, and it becomes increasingly important in close matches. People DO vote based off of the pic sometimes.

This is contest STATS and discussion (cause Lopen is funny) and is
intended to focus on things that have an effect on the contest.
Forgive me for being ignorant, but was the "and discussion" tacked on to the end by Ulti as some sort of sick joke?

That... was her final mission. And like a true soldier, she saw it through the end.

I still expect Vivi to take down Zelda. Even with the pic.
Honestly, as long as both chars are recognizable, pic really isn't a factor.
Even then, for super-well-known chars like Zelda, even an unrecognizable pic won't matter.
I'd say both chars look equally good in Vivi vs. Zelda.
Btw, I expect a narrow victory by Zelda.
Though I won't be surprised if Vivi wins.

Please there are much more disgusting matchups than Ganon vs Auron.
Both of those characters deserve to win two rounds. However Lloyd
beating Wesker, Dante beating Terra (if it happens), Squall beating
Geno, and Yoshi beating Ocelot are all disgusting.

Yes, it is indeed sad that Geno has to go out in the first round. But, as his opponent is Squall, he has no choice.

Sorry, but there is nothing good about Geno. He's the typical "bad boy" type of character who's overpowered for no reason other than to look cool, and Mario RPG didn't even pull it off well.

I know what is being implied. Reading comprehension involves a skill
known as "reading between the lines" and when you posses such a skill
(if you should ever come to posses such a skill) then you'll understand
that talks of bad pics are directly related to talks of poor
performance. It's an implied condition, and frankly anyone who would
even remotely imply it are idiots.
Before you call others idiots, look at the mirror.
I have NEVER implied that Snake's pic will hurt him in any way or form.
Btw, I'd rather call your so-called skill "making up bs" than "reading between the lines".
He's butt-ugly, he'll never have a good pic, if it's not at all meant to imply anything to do with the contest (having an effect on it) go vent elsewhere. This is contest STATS and discussion (cause Lopen is funny) and is intended to focus on things that have an effect on the contest.
It's contest stats and DISCUSSION, learn to read, buddy.
It's supposed to be my one-time comment about the match pictures, you blew it out of proportions.
If I have a problem with it you'll becoem regretfully aware soon enough.
By all means try, please!
Make me regret my statements!

Picture positioning doesn't really matter as long as the picture isn't
blatant (i.e. Mega Man blasting Snake's face in, but that picture
having an effect is QUESTIONABLE at best).
If the picture is a totally different representation of what a character is known and liked for MAY also play a factor.
But thinking a character has an advantage because he or she looks "cooler" than the other character or saying that one character looks like crap is utterly ridiculous. Especially if the "crappy" picture still looks like the character. For example, if Sephiroth used ONLY had his crappy looking pic against Auron last year, he still would perform nearly the same regardless.

well, I'll take your sarcasm detector, but granted the joke never registered with me, either.
It was a jab a Chichiri for implying that pics weren't worthy discussion material for this topic, since they have little to do with stats.
Back to Geno, I still have no clue why people like him, other than the fact that he has a 9999 damage attack. I couldn't find anything else to like about him.

lol, i really did go out on a limb on my SSBM prediction. looks like the limb broke. SSBM vs. Vice City should be a good match after all. now, i really can't see either beating FFX. and i'm not counting out FFX against Wind Waker yet either. after seeing the sales number comparison for Shenmue vs. Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue really might have been the tougher match.
you can't blame the logic, that's for sure.

Oh, I'm definitely gonna enjoy it if Vivi beats Zelda. But I really wouldn't mind if the opposite happened either...

I was never too worried about SSBM from the start; it just felt special
in that division. Throughout most of the contest, I viewed Chrono
Trigger as my "real" risk.

Thinking about it in retrospect, it does seem like it's always a good
idea to go with the character you like less when the match is expected
to be very close. That way you either get the points or you get to see
the character you like more win. No matter who wins in Vivi vs Zelda,
I'll be happy. I guess I should have picked Ganondorf after all.
