Honestly, I'll be disappointed if Auron doesn't go up from here. I really do believe he's the sixth strongest character in this contest (behind Samus, Mario, Crono, Mega Man, and Sonic...and the last two he may not be that far behind), and if he can top what Magus did against Ganondorf, it should be enough to justify that ranking.

And I'm pleased as punch that MGS continues to suck. Snake supporters best be worried...I'm curious to see how Manny does tomorrow. At the very least, a good picture should quash any hopes of Solid getting 90%.

FF7 and CT probably did too, FFX was rather sad, didn't make me tear up though. And the MGS2 ending just makes me go crazy in the head, not sad <_<

Funny you mention that. The final boss in LTTP is not called "Ganondorf," yet Ceej still used the pic against Ansem. I really do think that match pics make more of a difference than some people think. The only match all spring where Ganon didn't meet or exceed expectations was against Ansem. I mean, damn.

I'm big on theater stuff. I cannot listen to the RENT soundtrack ("Goodbye Love," most notably) without releasing the salty discharge.

But that "twist" at the end of the play was horribly obvious. Kinda ruined the emotional moment for me.

Still, I just can't think of an ending that even comes close to FFX's. I've seen that ending several times over, and I still get the chills every time.

The closest I've probably come to crying in a game would be a certain ending in the original MGS. I won't spoil, for those who haven't played. I haven't ever actually cried in a game though...except when I was a kid and would get super-pissed Hulk-style, heh, but we'll forget about that.

I think it's time I go back and finish Final Fantasy X.

I did with it I've done with several other: play through the game, get to the final boss, save, and stop playing. I did it with FFVI, BoF2, FFVII, Star Ocean 2, FFX, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. I picked all of them back up years later and replayed the whole game, including the final boss.

Same here. It isn't E.E.'s spoiler so much as it is everyone else's reactions to it that get me going. Otacon's voice actor does such an amazing job during those scenes...

By the way, while on the subject of voice acting, the MGS series is better than anything else I've ever played. Only Kingdom Hearts and Tales of Symphonia come close.

(Yes, I know Lloyd and Colette are annoying; but they're not annoying by accident, which makes their voice actors great)

Why the hell would you stop at the final boss of FFX? You automatically win that fight. If you die, you still go straight to the ending cutscene.

Oh please, Snake's handshake with Otacon is hardly badassed. Here you have Solid Snake, the badassed, cold-blooded legend who kills anything that gets in the way of his mission, humanizing himself while still retaining the core character that makes him so endearing in the first place. How many people do you know in real life who could keep their composure and act like a natural leader during all of that, all while trying to calm down your best (and only) friend before telling him that he has a job to do? Solid Snake kicks so much ass, and a great deal of the reason why comes from that scene. He is a legend and a soldier, but above all, he does not forget that he is a man and a human being, with real feelings and real needs.

I cheer Sephy on these days, but when I first played the game, that scene hit me pretty hard even though I knew it was coming. It wasn't the event so much as it was the music. That's one of the saddest themes in gaming.

Speaking of which, you know that Locke/Rachel scene in FF6? That still gets me every time.
