And pay close attention to when Gamespot gets so slow that it's barely navigable; when new TP info gets posted over there. I really do think that all the people saying that TP won't make a difference are out of their minds.

Do you really think Link will get more and more popular every single time a new TP info comes out?
I really doubt it, a few "key" ones will boost him, but in the end there's a limit to everything.

He'll definitely benefit somewhat, at the very least he should avoid the "slow decrease" every other char is currently experiencing due to time.
But I don't think he'll make a massive jump this year like he did last year.

Let me put this another way: if Mario were to get a title out for the launch of Revolution, the gains that he would make in the next tournament would be more significant than those that Link would get, because A) he has more room to work with and B) it's not every year that Mario gets a new, true Mario game released.

Obviously, overexposure hasn't been a bad thing for Link, but when the guy has his NES classics, LttP, OoT, MM, WW, SSB, and SC2 in his back pocket already...I can't see how TP is going to bring a slew of new voters to his side if the others already haven't.

2) It appeals to the FF7 fanbase, i.e., the people already voting for Cloud.

I don't think that Advent Children is going to help Cloud much, but for entirely different reasons.

1. Advent Children won't bring people to GameFAQs, being a movie. So any increase would have to be from people already traversing the site.

2. While it's true that there are probably many people that like both Link and Cloud, it doesn't necessarily mean that Advent Children will automatically make a set number of people like Cloud better. If anything, I would think more of the people who already like Cloud better to get the movie before the ones that Link do. That is merely speculation though. Also, we are assuming that Advent Children will be enough to make a significant amount of people like Cloud MORE than Link. We're assuming that Cloud and Link are EQUALLY popular to a lot of people and that Advent Children will push them to like Cloud more than Link. They may like Cloud MORE after that, but it definitely doesn't mean that they will like him more than Link. I know it theoretically would only take a few thousand voters to change their mind, but I was just stating other possibilities for Advent Children.

3. With the amount of votes needing to change being stated, I am quietly wondering if Cloud overperformed against Link as the match went on, due to Link already having the match in the bag. I've secretly been trying to look at the poll updates, but I can't get the Cloud/Link and other high vote matches to appear on either one of my browsers. (-_-) But yeah, I've always wondered if Cloud may have benefitted from Link "supporters" not caring as much since they knew that he was going to win. (We know the high vote totals aren't exclusive....) Just a little conspiracy theory I'm throwing out. I've never been able to check though.

4) Link might get a boost from TP to counter it.

I don't think Link gained his "boost" from the actual Twilight Princess GAME. I think it was more due to Twilight Princess Link returning to the adult form that everybody loved. There was a LOT of backlash over the Wind Waker design... and not just on GameFAQS. Enough backlash to cause Mr. Miyamoto to say that he listened to the complaints in making Twilight Princess (they originally planned on making Wind Waker 2 using the same engine as the Wind Waker). They then went to scrap the WW2 plans and instead went on the path that we see now.

With that being said, I don't think the actual game was the reason for Link changing then, and I don't think he would get ANOTHER boost due to it either, unless there are a bunch of voters who like Link better now because he can turn into a werewolf (unlikely).

If we can seriously get a list goin' to see Tingle next year, preferably against Link, I'd join in. I'd love to see him be laid to waste by Link, though it'd be great to see him be smashed by the likes of Laharl, too.

I think that was because in the character descriptions, CJayC gave rankings to the characters based on previous years using a system that is even more inherently flawed than the raw extrapolated statistics. In it, Alucard had a considerably higher ranking than Ganondorf.
