There is already a direct match between FF VII and CT in a spring contest, with FF VII winning comfortably.

Thinking about Crono winning the main bracket, it really does seem sword characters generally > non-sword ones...

If Samus used some type of sword, would your opinion on her probable match against Sephiroth change? It's a weird thought...

Reasons why I think AC won't do anything for Cloud:

1) It's a movie. A movie has never helped out a character. Just ask Lara Croft.
2) It appeals to the FF7 fanbase, i.e., the people already voting for Cloud.
3) If it turns out to be a flop and/or a bad movie it may wind up hurting Cloud.
4) Link might get a boost from TP to counter it.

It helps if you're popular in the first place. Lara isn't.

And you can honestly tell me that there aren't at least 2500 LoZ fans who also happen to be FFVII fans who could watch this movie and change their vote as a result?

Somehow, I really doubt the FFVII fans are going to hate it.

Yeah, Sephy barely benefit from SFF in his matches against fellow Squares last year, so he won't SFF Crono at all.

Cloud should SFF him a little, he has always done a good job against fellow Squares.

Up until about a week before the bracket was released, I was confident in Link > Cloud. However, for whatever reason, one day I changed my mind. I've thought Cloud > Link since then.

AC won't do much for Cloud, but he didn't need much to begin with.

I honestly doubt TP can give Link any more boost until it's actually released.

I still can't see Link getting that much of a boost from TP, simply because he only has so much room left to improve. The most important thing about TP is simply having a new Zelda title out there to keep Link fresh for another year or two.

I still can't see Link getting that much of a boost from TP, simply because he only has so much room left to improve. The most important thing about TP is simply having a new Zelda title out there to keep Link fresh for another year or two.

TP isn't just another upcoming release, you know. That thing dominated at E3 for two years, to the point where people were willing to stand in line for four hours and up to play a demo of the game. It's this same logic that makes me think that Master Chief increased between 2003 and 2004. Halo 2 was not just another upcoming release; it was the upcoming release. I've never bought into hype not being able to help a character. A lot of these polls are just the "What have you done for me lately?" syndrome in poll format.

And pay close attention to when Gamespot gets so slow that it's barely navigable; when new TP info gets posted over there. I really do think that all the people saying that TP won't make a difference are out of their minds.
