Are you SERIOUSLY thinking that Alucard would gain from Aria of Sorrow
or Dawn of Sorrow? Most likely, only people that have played Symphony
of the Night would know that he was Alucard in that game. The game
never explicitly says who he is.
That being said, I doubt his role in Aria of Sorrow would cause many people to vote for him when they wouldn't vote for him after Symphony of the Night...

I don't know why some people would honestly disregard that.
You're right in that Yuna probably saw some increase from FFX-2, but, it wasn't a very well-received game from the gaming populace, from what I hear and see. The Final Fantasy X FAQs and message boards get more love from this site's viewers. Not to mention Yuna wasn't really the most striking of characters, both visually and personally. If it wasn't for her origins in FFX, she wouldn't be that much different from your bland heroine.
A 3% increase does sound reasonable, though.
Of course, there's always the possibility Tifa bombs and barely escapes, or even loses to Luigi, but that's difficult to see happening.
Actually, now thinking about that, I wouldn't rule out that possibility. Luigi could have gained popularity with his awesome performance in Paper Mario 2.
Tifa, though has some serious potential. She cannot be that far from Aeris's level, and I'm getting worried that she very well might be above it. She is the main female lead in VII, and that has to get her at least in the top 20 characters. Not to mention having ****ing planets for breasts doesn't hurt.
---
It takes a genius to make something simple truly great.

Hmm...
Using 2k4 Ganon(Pre-Villians Contest) ~ Ganon is underperforming by 3%... Now if you think Ganon is stronger than his value(using the Villians Contest as your argument).
.
Villains Contest Ganon ~ VC Ganon is 3% stronger than 2k4 Ganon...VC Ganon is underperforming by a whole 6%..You can't attribute all 6% to FFX-2...
So either..
1) Ganon is actually near his 2k4 level and NOT his Villians Contest level
2) FFX-2 made up 6% for Yuna..
I would go with Choice 1..However, that makes Bowser look quite weak....Ganon's underperformance is starting to put Bowser in danger of losing to Ryu..I would throw his chances against Snake away right now..

Aeris DID get 47% on Sonic...but that was also Sonic's worst year. I
have good faith in Tifa being stronger than Aeris, but I don't think
it'll be enough to pull such a huge upset off.

Putting Ganon near his 2k3 level is no problem, he will just get 2-3%
less against Samus..However, if the Villians Contest was some kind of
fluke(which it is according to this match), then Bowser retains his 2k3
level which puts him below Ryu and a good deal behind Snake..

I would throw his chances against Snake away right now..
Why is that? Snake may very well not even be at his adjusted ranking to begin with. That means, even with MGS3 boost, he would be playing catch up to Bowser, as opposed to the other way around.
Ganon in the Spring Contest showed a minimal increase if you look at it from the most reasonable point of view, which Sephiroth decreasing, Ganon increasing marginally, and Bowser having a noticeable yet reasonable increase.
There's hardly anything to say that Bowser doesn't stand a chance against Snake. In fact, given some recent events, I would say Bowser is looking good to beat Snake.

Saying Ganondorf increased by his performance in the villain contest
seems unreasonable to me from this. But at the least, Bowser still
looks decent at least because he played Sephiroth right before
Ganondorf and did better in comparison to Ganondorf than what he would
have been expected to.
Whether it's legit or not, who knows. But it's not farfetched.

I would doubt a Ganon increase as well, but it wasn't by very much to
begin with, unless you think Sephiroth remained the same, which is
insanity.
From these results, I do find it reasonable to think that Ganon is very close to his 2003 value, though. Most of this showing can be attributed to Yuna increasing as opposed to Ganon decreasing, as its a reasonable increase.

Clearly there was tons of anti-Seph sentiment in that contest. Being
the only who who could possible even come CLOSE to winning in the
slightest. At least every character in the regular character contest
has some kind of rival that can beat him or her.

err Bowser is the one playing catchup..and with Ganon's showing making him look weaker....
Bowser is 3% behind in the X-Stats to begin with..Factor in Snake's inevitable MGS3 boost and Bowser looking weaker..
You do the math.

Aeris DID get 47% on Sonic...but that was also Sonic's worst year. I
have good faith in Tifa being stronger than Aeris, but I don't think
it'll be enough to pull such a huge upset off.
I emphasize that I doubt that Sonic was "less popular" that year. It was his worst year because he went up directly against the Cloud bandwagon, a la Bowser. That being said, I think all of Sonic's matchups were legit (he just really sucks against Cloud). Direct matchups are much easier to trust than trying to compare characters across the XStats.

If we assume that SC2K3 Ganondorf is accurate, and the rest of the
underperformance today is due to FFX-2, and figure Sephiroth's Spring
2005 value that way, and thereby also Bowser's value, we get the result
that Bowser would get 33.57 on '03 Link, which is higher than both Ryu
and Snake with 20XXDF.

The villain contest is messed up, but I think Seph Vs. Ganondorf and
Seph Vs. Bowser gives a decent indication of their strength in
comparison to each other even if all the other results are wack.
Even with Ganondorf not showing an increase, if you adjust Bowser's performance to Sp2K4 Ganondorf assuming it equals 2K3 Ganondorf, he's going 50-50 with a Solid Snake adjusted for SFF. Technically he's about a 1% favorite. Not to mention UNADJUSTED Snake.
Sure, Bowser will always be the underdog and I personally don't think it would happen since that's before MGS3. But I'm not counting it out.

Except you know...
2k3 Ganon isn't accurate; He could be weaker...
An underperformance can't be TOTALLY on FFX-2; There is a good mixture of both : FFX-2 and Ganon being overrated
Sephiroth's Spring 2005 value is flawed..you know that.
You basically gave Ganon the benefit of the doubt on ALL 3 situations..If you point all the factors to one character, of course, they will seem strong as hell..Using Shadow, you can prove Tidus > Mario if you wanted..

expected. Ganondorf vs. Auron???

As far as Snake goes...there's still the problem that a sprite pic
round is going to come around sooner or later. His best hope would be
for it to come in a third round matchup against Sora or Alucard...but
if it came up in a quarterfinals match with Bowser, or a second round
match against Vivi, Snake's gonna have a lot to worry about.

Using Shadow, you can prove Tidus > Mario if you wanted..
No you can't, because Tidus already beat Shadow with under 51%.

Maybe Ganondorf is just weaker against FFX.... Tidus was strong against him and then fell off the next year. Yuna is doing better than expected. Ganondorf vs. Auron???
DUN dun DUNNNNNNNNNNN
Not that I really believe that... Just starting a conspiracy theory....

Heh, Auron vs Ganon should be good :)

If you ask me, putting Ganondorf under Bowser is even more suspect.
There's also the possibility that Bowser will drop too. But then again, there's yet another possibility that Knuckles will rise. Yeesh.

Raiden fact of the contest: Alucard is a plagiarist, this year Raiden will prove it!

If Dante can go up over 3% from 2002 to 2003 with nothing inbetween but
DMC2, why the hell can't Yuna go up by less than 2 and a half for FFX-2?

I saw it on the board last year where someone proved Tidus > Mario tilting various factors towards Tidus of course..He used Tidus' performance against Ganon and Mario's perf against Shadow..I don't remember how he did it but it was damn entertaining..

Not that I really believe that... Just starting a conspiracy theory....
If that were true and he underperformed about the same between Yuna & Tidus, that would still put Tidus at around Auron's level about Bowser and Ryu

I find it funny that the only two matches that have gone according to expectations so far are the two blowouts.

Yep, proves how little we(the board gurus) truly know..The predictions from the stats are just nuts...
Wesker overperforming by 10%+
Riku overperforming by 10%+
Ryu overperforming by 3%
Yuna overperforming by 3%
Ness winning...
The only things we got were the blowouts (Samus > Yuri ; Mario > JD)
This is making the X-Stats look unreliable..3% is so much in this contest :(

You can also prove CATS > Link. It's not like any of those bizarre claims are true, direct matchups are much more accurate.

Well, both Zero and Frog were involved in Mega's Division last year,
and Yuna missed 2004, so we had to rely on her old pre-FFX-2 numbers.

Well. The only things so far that have been really off for me was Ness
Vs. CJ. CJ being outperformed by Jak is something I completely
discounted as a possiblity.
And Lloyd Vs. Wesker. I knew people that thought that Mithos could beat Wesker just because "the stats say so" were crazy, but I was still expected 59ish.

Ganondorf's showing doesn't make Bowser over Snake bad, everyone in the
20XX division is doing around expected, if this is true, Snake is
already below Bowser 2k3 level, Snake has th be the one catching up. ;/
