If being a better character meant anything in these contests, Ness would be slaughtering Mario in the next round and would eventually win the entire thing after defeating Magus in the finals.

I could actually live with that. Magus losing to Ness is quite bearable.

I'm not too worried about Ryu > Bowser. Seeing Wesker pull a WTF against Lloyd (I'm sorry, but Lloyd is not weaker then Vyse) only makes me feel better about the villain contest being garbage, and so it really puts Bowser vs Ryu as closer then ever.

And just to let ya know, Bowser didn't exactly rape Ocelot did he? Sure it was 65/35 or something, but I don't call that a rape. The most impressive thing he did in the villains contest was his performance against Sephy. Trust me, I'm gonna laugh my ass off when he can barely get 65/35 on Chun Li, and like 53/47 on Ryu.

If Frog does poorly on Riku it's a small hint that Frog is not as powerful as his SFF adjusted rank in 2k4 suggests he is. Ignoring the possibility that Frog overperformed on a uncognizable Snake, it's assumed Mega Man did not underperform against Link. This leads to Snake being weak enough to lose to Bowser/Tidus/Ryu.

Snake has been getting too much respect for far too long, and I blame the draws for that. He has never had to go up against a Nintendo character, and he hasn't faced a legitimate Square character since 2k2, which was A) before the Squarexplosion and B) three years closer to Solid's last major role in a video game. Regardless of who wins Vivi/Zelda, Solid is going to running up against one hell of a fanbase in Round 2, and if he does survive, it'll be from bracket-voting vote-stuffers and nothing more.

Yes but its the same familar RPG isn't it? Sure always somewhat new gameplay, plot, characters, etc, but its the same old feel right? Think of it THAT way. And hell, all 3 MGS games have a different cast other than the main people(Solid Snake(who isn't in the 3rd one <_<), Ocelot, etc)

I find it hard to believe a character who is looking to bring Frog to around 55% and is, from what I recall, unplayable is going to match Sora in strength.

And I have said it's ridiculous to think that people are looking at the picture enough to ignore the initial sprite and see Snake's picture in the background.

Someone like Snake does not need a picture to get him votes. His name is clearly there "Solid Snake" and he had the same picture against Ryu, which he performed like he should have. Hell, that match against Frog was not the only time he looked to have underperformed either. He did it against Knuckles and Mega Man as well. It wasn't as though that was his one "bad" match.

Your right, but the only reason FF7 has the best Square characters in the contest is because it was the first step into an entirely new generation of gaming, and was critically aclaimed by basically everyone, and is still considered one of the greatest games of all time.
