We already knew that Samus would be stronger than Mario. The only hope Mario has for him against Samus is SFF which will ultimately never work out in his favor. Anyone looking for Mario to show signs of being stronger than Samus is going to be disappointed. That said, Samus will beat Mario, and then go on to beat a few others as well, namely Snake, Crono, and Sephiroth.

The idea of Mario gaining from his 2004 value isn't hard at all to believe, really. At the least, I think he's back up to his previous 2003 value, which he had dropped from by about a percent before. I happen to see it far more likely that he's increased given all he's had that wasn't just another sports title released within the past year.

With that said, he doesn't necessarily need to perform much better than her to win, obviously.
