Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 162

I think Ceej should end every match when the person in the lead is leading by 4,000 votes, and just start the next one. Then make the maximum length of time for a match 24 hours. And no, I don't care that would take much more effort on his part.

I'm fairly confident that Manny will be stronger than Guybrush.

If nothing else, he has a far more appealing character model.

I doubt Lloyd will hit 70%. The TOS fanbase does not like him at all.

I really think this is mainly a board 8 thing. Possibly snowballed even further because "all the cool people were doing it". The actual ToS board seems to like him enough. He's probably among the top 4 characters overall. For the combat awesomeness alone he'll get many a vote, never mind his character. (which I actually liked... whatever)

Lloyd will just barely miss a tripling, that's my prediction. 74%ish.

I also get the sneak in suspicion that their matches are less transitive...at least, that's a guess of mine after looking at some of the matches with Extra Lives.

Hah, just went through that tournament. A lot less voters than here, and wow, FF7 and Crono Trigger had to face off early, rather than in the Finals where they belong... That was cool though, Mario 3 beat Doom by 2 votes. Although, XD at Gordon Freeman and Half-life winning that contest.

They had things called "extra lives," where users got to vote out of a pool of the eliminated games and revive one of them, into a match as a third option.

Well, maybe transitive's not the word, but here are the two things I'm lookin' at that made me say such a thing:

1) Goldeneye's two matches against Halo. There's a 3% difference from what Goldeneye had in the first round to what it had in the third round.
2) Counter-Strike got 45% on Unreal, and Unreal got 49% on Half-Life. Then, in a three-way match, Counter-Strike only got 12% in a match with Starcraft and Diablo. The winner of that match (Diablo) goes on to face Half-Life and got 39%.

Now, to be fair, I think the SC/Diablo/CS match was a match highly thought to have cheating (and looking at the vote-totals, most likely so), but you would still figure CS would have done better than about 2,700 in a match with 20,000+ votes, especially when the other two games were debatably from the same fanbase.

Because

One hour to go and this match hasn't even broken 90k...

Well, only Zero is a midcarter, while Hayabusa isn't too well known.

Compared to 2 midcarters going at each other yesterday, or the presense of a powerhouse 2 days ago.

For kicks and giggles, I'm gonna see what the first two matches we've seen would look like if 10,000 votes from the Nintendo characters were subtracted:

Mario - 70137 (78.76%)
Joanna - 18920 (21.24%)

Ness - 44881 (50.13%)
CJ - 44644 (49.87%)

That only makes our BOP look even worse, really...heh.

Anyway, I'm hoping Lloyd breaks 80% on Wesker. Thus, I'll be that much more confident in my 'upset' pick of Kratos Aurion over Diablo.
