Do know Vercetti and CJ are still two different characters.

I thought about the Kratos/Alucard match briefly, but my gut feeling was that Kratos hasn't been around for long enough to pose a serious threat. Still...the things that happen in these polls never cease to amaze me, so who knows?

*still dumbfounded by today's "thrashing"*

Well God of War was a big game for a while and Kratos is just plainly described as awesome but i think i made a mistake of having Kratos when the tournament.....yeah, mistake.

Perhaps this is a case of people loving the game but not being particularly attached to the main character. I haven't played any GTA game but I heard people calling CJ rather generic. Anyone know if Vercetti has more personality than CJ in the GTA games?
From: MegatokyoEd | Posted: 7/20/2005 2:14:38 PM | Message Detail
I've played SA and VC and CJ has way more personality than Vercetti.
From: Draco1214 | Posted: 7/20/2005 2:14:38 PM | Message Detail
I'm actually kinda worried about my Vercetti over Kefka pick now. Hopefully, Kefka chokes like he always does.

Current Match Prediction: Zero vs. Ryu Hayabusa
From: Sir Crono | Posted: 7/20/2005 2:15:03 PM | Message Detail
Well, people do seem to like Vercetti better. I think the lack of a trademark look (like Tommy's Hawaiian shirt) might be hurting CJ's recognizability.

We already knew CJ was a large favorite going into this...but did anybody expect him to ever seriously be in danger of losing to Jak? As-is, he's currently doin' worse than Jak...and Ness had linkage from starmen.net against Jak, too; not a big factor at all, but that's still THAT much worse CJ's lookin'.

Which brings me to ask...who all would actually take Jak in a CJ/Jak match? I get the feeling very few would.

I wouldn't have taken Jak before this, obviously, but I'd take the risk now since he's had a new game since last summer, and he's got a new one due out this fall.

If Bowser SFF'd Ness as badly as he did, then it's not unreasonable to say Ganon got some minor SFF against Giygas. Like last night, I should have clarified I didn't mean alot of SFF.

Even if there was none, Giygas > Tenpenny still. Not enough to solely base your pick on Ness/CJ with, but still interesting to note.

Giygas get 0% of his popularity from SSB, which you can't say for Ness. The hardcore Earthbounders would vote for Giygas, and a lot of the Ganondorf voters didn't even know who that was.

From: yoblazer33 | Posted: 7/20/2005 2:33:06 PM | Message Detail
Well, when we take into consideration that a majority of Ness's strength and recognition stems from the Smash series, we can see why Bowser SFF'D the hell out of him. Giygas only has Earthbound, and if the true Earthbound fanbase is as fanatical as I've been led to believe, he likely wouldn't have suffered any SFF.

What's even more weird is that Tenpenny is possibly the weakest villain in this contest. Coming from the most popular mainstream game on the site...I can't believe I had CJ now.

At the same time though, Ness had both SSB and SSBM on his side. Bowser was in SSBM, but people try to forget about that since he's not worth anything, heh. Not saying there shouldn't have been SFF in that match, but there was alot in Bowser/Ness...I don't think it was all just Ness's SSB/M fanbase being stripped down.

If they're any indication, pretty darn good.

I'll switch to Tenpenny < possibly minor-SFF'd Giygas...but my point all along was that Giygas > Tenpenny. I think he got a small bit of SFF, thus making the spread between them look a lil' bigger (which, assuming there is none, Tenpenny would get 39.34% against Giygas).
