Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 158

It's difficult to say if Knuckles went up or not due to being in 20XX. RPGuy's stats say he increased ever-so-slightly though.
Looking at this, Knuckles is about as consistent as they come. If we do have to deal with Magus getting SFF'd by Crono again, using Knux as a base could prove reliable.

Yeah, I want to call Knuckles the most consistent character across all three summer contests, but I'm too lazy to check.

Oh, and Mario's consistent in his losses, too. Just, not in his wins.

If the Villain Contest is a sign of anything and characters keep gettin' face-shots this round, that'll most likely change.

CATS has the WDF and the Spring contest working against him. If you disregard both of those, then he wins.

Well, if you include the Spring Contest, CATS remaining constant screws
a lot of things up. Either way, Knuckles IS more consistent.

Also keep in mind that Ryu's and CATS's first numbers are just guestimations.

20XXDF makes so little difference? I'd never have thought...
Don't be deceived by the seemingly small difference in the numbers. 20XX adjusted beats unadjusted by an almost exact 55/45 ratio.

With good data across all three contests, the top 5 are (changes made to raw data in parenthesis):
1. Knuckles (0.42%, 2k2: Crono's cheat votes, 2k4: 20XXDF)
2. Mario (0.71%, 2k4: Arbitrarily static, used as base)
3. Scorpion(0.84%, 2k4: Adjusted by Auron-through-Tails)
4. Ryu (1.57%, 2k2: WDF)
5. Sonic (2.08%, 2k2: WDF)

Wouldn't Vercetti get the higher number regardless? He lost to Zero,
and if there was no 20XXDF then Zero was likely SSF'd by Mega Man, so
TV would be brought up anyway.

Scratch 2004 I forgot vs 2k3 Link. But what is up with 2002.
Ceej said he recognized a sizeable amount of cheat votes in Mario/Crono I during SSBM/StarCraft. So I took the liberty of removing votes (I think it was 2000, might have been 1500) from Crono's total against Mario in 2k2. Since Knuckles lost to Snake who lost to Crono, this affects him a bit.

Im not willing to admit that the Spring Contest stats are so wacked out
that a character who is ranked above Kefka by more than a little can
lose to someone Kefka beat. Also, since Pac-Man has taken a steady
decline since 2003.

What reasons?? Minnish Cap?
The only reason that makes any sense is E32004 changed a lot of people's opinion. And even then Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance was the rebirth of a franchise which was well received and well sold.

I don't think Leon's quite strong enough to break 40% on Mega Man. 35%-37% range might be feasible though.
Speaking of Mr. Kennedy, will this be the first year someone breaks 60% on Gordon?

Leon is so terribly underrated by everyone and I find that
dissapointing. There are two games that fight over best RE game ever.
Leon is the star of one and splits being the star in another. Resident
Evil series has been reborn in many people's eyes. I can really see
Leon = Dante.

Meh, just 30% on Mega Man would put Leon right around Jill's 2004
range. I think he can do better than that. 35% would put him in the
range of Yoshi, which is the peak of Ms. Valentine's contest popularity.

Reasons why Link 2k4 > Link 2k3:
1) Link was in Soul Calibur 2 on Gamecube versions.
2) LoZ: Collecter's Edition was packaged with Gamecubes suring the 2k3 Christmas season.
3a) LoZ:TP hype.
3b) No Wind Waker pics were used.
I bundled those last two together because those are arguable and I think they didn't affect enough to matter (I say this having argued for minor SFF in today's match, no less, heh). The first two reasons are plenty big.
