Sorry all for SC2K5.com/oraclechallenge.com being down. I was away on
vacation for the weekend. The problem was that the /var partition
(where the MySQL databases are located) on the hard drive got filled
up, because of other sites I have on the server. (sc2k4.com was
unaffected because I never bothered to move that over to my server)

I feel as if I haven't posted in a bit...
Zelda/Snake isn't an upset I'm willing to take, but she'll probably do fine on him anyways.
Sora/Alucard surprised me a lot (in terms of how many people are supporting him) because he's been underrated twice now, and it just seems weird that now he has a good deal of support. To his credit, he did have Chain of Memories, but when I picked Sora I suspected favoritism was coming into play.
And, since everyone seems to be so dismissive of Kerrigan, how is she expected to do against Vincent? And, anecdotally, I recall seeing posts of it depends if she gets her Brood War picture, and funnily enough, I show Kerrigan to my friend, and he goes, "Isn't that the girl from the cover of Brood War?" I found it amusing.

Other people have said that, yeah, but that just sounds silly to me. It
logically sounds like it would make a lot more sense for Megaman to
benefit fighting Zero than for Zero to get more votes because it's
Megaman. If anything, Zero could have done better. It could even (but I
highly doubt it) be a Mario/Samus situation where the second character
is stronger than the first, but not if fighting the other character.
Hopefully that's how Mario/Samus goes...

Just so you know, by saying that A > B and B > C do not necessarily mean A > C, you are admitting that the extrapolated values are meaningless, as they rely on the A > C assumption to work at all.

meaningless isn't necessarily true, either. You still need to know when
you should and shouldn't go against them.

If upper tier characters are not transitive [For example,
Mario/Samus/Crono], then the rest of the stats break apart since they
are calculated through those characters.
Transitivity is a requirement. Assuming that characters A, B, and C have values of 1, x, and y [which correspond to 50%, 50x%, and 50y%], then A > B is 1 - x/2, B > C is 1 - y/(2x), and A > C is 1 - y/2 [I will not post how these calculations are derived here, although they are relatively straightforward calculations]. The idea behind the extrapolated statistics is that the secondary parts are transitive, in that x/2 * y/(2x) * 2 = y/2. Since the extrapolated uses percentages instead of decimal numbers, they divide by 50 instead of multiplying by 2 as I have done here. That the transitivity comes from x/2 and not 1 - x/2 is why the stats are calculated through the loser's percentage and not the winner's percentage [CvA is obtained instead of AvC].

Joanna doesn't have an Xbox game yet though, nor will she by a week from now.
Conker 2k4 should get 22.74% on adjusted Mega Man, and 25.27% on unadjusted Mega Man. With Conker: Live And Reloaded being out for a lil' under three months before his match comes along, I'd love to see Conker get 30%...but I bet against that happening pretty hard. That would mean Conker would now be at least as strong as Scorpion, and that's based off of an unadjusted Mega Man. I'd love that, but that's nothing more than wishful thinking on my part.

I expect less than Terry. Tekken may be bigger than KoF but no one
really cares. KoF has one of the more hardcore fanbases, and for as
much as you'd expect for Tekken it's latest incarnation recieved much
less fanfare than the previous one (which was considered by many to be
the worst in the series at that point).

While the Villain Contest didn't necessarily show alot of hope for great high vote totals, there was also alot of fodder characters not many people cared about...any chance we could be seein' some great vote-totals or big variences in strength this summer (remember, in 2k3, alot of people think the higher population's what helped the Square characters, moreso than KHF even).
