You are completely delusional then. Snake not going to get that kind of boost from a game he wasnt in.

Snake can still get a potential boost from the game. Metal Gear Solid 3 could have potentially brought more Metal Gear Solid/Snake fans to the site.

I disagree, but I can see why people think that. If he was talking MGS 3 could get him near his 2003 levels, I wouldnt say a word. Trying to suggest Snake might be stronger than ever is wrong, however.

It's not like Naked Snake and Solid Snake are THAT different anyways. But I actually don't know, since I haven't played the game yet.

You should play it.

NewLib..

If KH can give Sephy/Cloud/Squall a boost..

Then MGS3 can give Snake a boost...

First off, there is reason to believe Sephy didnt get a huge boost from KH and that he just overperformed against Cloud. Second off, Cloud and Squall, especially Squall, played substantial roles in KH. Snake played no role. I can buy a small increase due to increase interest in the series, but I wont buy a huge leap.

And don't forget Acid.

(CARD BATTLE!
Oliolio!)

Seriously, Acid was hyped to be one of the PSP's killer apps. I can see it helping Snake a little.

I'm still haven't even played through 2, even though I've had it for over 2 years now. I haven't been keeping up with games like I used to. I still haven't played Resident Evil 4... I think buying an XBox at the beginning of this year took me off focus due to playing strictly Halo, Halo 2, and Ninja Gaiden.

But yeah, I'm slowly catching up though.

I'm currently playing:

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (on Gamecube)
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

And I have Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry, and Viewtiful Joe, which I have had for years and are sitting on the backburner. I also just bought Tales of Symphonia so I can hurry up and play it before my eyes fall out from all the people here that spoil it for me. I also have Knights of the Old Republic sitting there, but I just can't get into the game....

Game of the Year talk or not, I haven't seen that translate into any extra love for Master Chief around these parts...besides, we know that GameFAQs isn't always in line with the mainstream. I'm very interested to see how MC fares against Donkey Kong in the second round. If he tops 55%, I'd be a little more convinced of his strength...but until that happens, he's still the guy that gave up 47% of the vote to Felix in 2003, and still the guy that scored out virtually equal to Liquid Snake in 2004...and after seeing what Liquid did against Sephiroth, that's not something to be proud of. MC might have a lot of potential, but until he backs it up with at least one strong contest performance, he's nothing more to me than a glorified mid-carder.

Okay MC did equal to LS who did a fraction of a percentage worst than Frog who is less than a percent lower than Solid.

If you take the trio down based on LS, you got to take Solid Snake down a little too.

I doubt 2k3 Snake could break 47% on Crono or break 83% on Squall or 56% on Aeris(You get the point on 2k2 Snake > 2k3 Snake)

What are you talking about, Newlib? Naked Snake looks and sounds just like Solid Snake. He is also commonly referred to as "Snake". The only ones that care about the distinction are the fanatics that will likely vote Snake anyway.

For all intents and purposes, Solid Snake = Naked Snake. And Auron had better watch out if ol Boss gets a flattering picture.

He won't. I'm almost convinced that Big Boss got in due to Naked Snake nominations and Ceej put him in under "Big Boss" to distinguish him from Solid Snake.

First off, there is reason to believe Sephy didnt get a huge boost from KH and that he just overperformed against Cloud.

No way. He may have overperformed against Cloud, but look at how badly he kicked Mario and Mega Man's asses. He clearly made a big jump in 2k3. Sephiroth was supposedly overrated in 2k2 also, and he still was projected to do 5% worse against Mario, not to mention actually doing 11% worse against Mega Man.

Actually, Snake was higher in 2003 anyways if I remember correctly

Beat me to it, which makes me think...

-----MGS2(3, too?) SPOILERS-----

...if Solid can gain from being playable for, what, an hour and then be known as an NPC named Pliskin for most of the rest of MGS2, then it's a real possibility that him being in a supposedly-funny mini-game and looking/acting almost just like the lead of MGS3 might bring him back closer to 2k3 levels than some of us might have thought (not that I'm the first to say this, most likely)...

-----MGS2(3, too?) SPOILERS OVER-----

...also, MGS2 seemed more hatable than MGS3 (though it also seems like MGS2 has had more exposure and credit given than MGS3, too), though I might not be lookin' at the fanbase right when I say that. I'm not saying MGS3 > MGS2 here, but it looks to have been generally better-received.

Take away another 1,000 votes from Crono against Mario in 2k2 (CJay didn't remove all the cheat-votes, remember?), and the gain now looks better. Also, interestingly enough, I think somebody said months ago that, after removing those cheat-votes, he looks very similar to Solid 2k4...but I haven't done the numbers for myself to check that one.

Anyone who played the game could tell the difference.

You keep telling yourself that... I'll keep believing that the Naked Snake-Solid Snake distinction is a token one that exists because homeboy didn't want it to be unrealistic. He's made to be just like Solid Snake, and most casual fans will give Solid Snake a boost in their "inner favorites list" accordingly.

And yeah, Leonhart, I never hesitated in picking Auron... the profile only helped my confidence. But I do think I could be in danger of losing a point should CJay swerve us with the picture.
