Brainshock is a PSI spell that one of your party members gets. It makes the target feel strange. I don't think I've ever seen it work on Ness.

Lucid, I love you. I didn't even think the Magic Butterfly thing was possible, plus the Tee Ball Bat is kicking some ass. Li'l UFOs are still tough to hit, but meh.

And when I to level 20, I gained like 4 points of offense, 30 HP, and had every stat boosted. And Lifeup B.

I'm glad the game went back to kicking ass and being hilarious, because that whole thing was really annoying me.

Flea Men happen to suck. Why, what's this? I can attack at a 45 degree angle downwards! *nullifies all Flea Men*

Though yeah, you're the last person I expected to hate Earthbound. And your big reason for not liking it is not liking the battle system (which is understandable; that setup is definitely not for everyone) and not finding the game funny. How you of all people could not find humor from EarthBound is beyond me. I think you're just looking for an excuse not to like it, personally.

Though in that sense, everyone goes into the game expecting it to be OMG ROFLMAO ROFFLE XDXD lol because of what they hear. That's.... not usually how video game humor works, in my experience. Game designers are well aware that gamers are a different breed than most (ie, our comedy comes from us acting like obnoxious geeks), and form the humor to emulate this.

If Tidus and Auron were real people, we'd see Tidus's sniffing of Auron and subsequent being launched backwards as friggen stupid. In a video game, it works. EarthBound as a whole is a testament to this.

In other words: If you don't like EarthBound's presentation, you have some lightening up to do.

OK. I just read RPGuy's analysis on Luigi. I agree that he might be stronger than the X-Stats suggest him to be.

However, the true weak point in the analysis is the assumption he didn't back at all, that Tifa would be weaker than Aeris. Believe me, whichever board I've gone to on GameFAQs and whichever gaming site I've visited, I've found Tifa to be more popular, AND by a good margin. In the recent match of theirs in Leon's contest, Tifa more than doubled Aeris. Here's another simple example, from the FFVII board:

Yes, we're talking about the opinion of a very small portion of the voters in a contest, but there's a reason why Tifa is more popular EVERYWHERE. It can't be a coincidence.

Magus is more popular than Crono everywhere, and look where that got him. I can't prove that Tifa is going to be weaker than Aeris, but that's my feeling on the matter. And it's nothing significant, really. I'm talking 53/47 to 55/45, which is entirely possible.

I don't see why in god's name anyone would think Tifa would be that much weaker than Aeris anyways. She's more prominant in the game(See half the second disc, where *spoilers* you CONTROL HER for that part of the game). Along with being a better character.

I can see her being weaker than Aeris, because Aeris got the Kingdom Hearts boost.. but there's no way she's going to be THAT much weaker than Aeris, and certainly not weak enough for Luigi to pull anything off.

Honestly, I think the people calling for a Luigi upset weren't satisfied with their bracket and said "Hmm let's go MAKE and upset". Not logical at all.

You do realize that this question makes little to no sense, right?

Oh, and Diablo was mildly expected. Starcraft had a fair share of bracket support against Halo, though next to none after that.

Tifa/Sonic could very well be a match that could sneak up on everyone, if Tifa is at all stronger than Aeris. Just suppose that for some reason known only to CJayC that delays push Tifa/Sonic back three days to September 14, which happens to be the day AC hits stores worldwide. I personally don't think it can do much for Cloud or Sephiroth, but it could very well change a hell of a lot of minds about Tifa. If the start of the contest is somehow delayed, I'm probably going to do a last minute bracket switch.

Wasn't the whole concept behind KHF that KH introduced new fans to FF and made them want to go play it? Tifa would have received the same boost that Aeris did. Unless you actually think her appearance in KH was noteworthy?

There's nothing about Aeris's appearance in Kingdom Hearts that makes you like her more. Squall? Most likely. Cloud? With that new design, probably. Yuffie? Perhaps. Aeris? She did nothing in that game but say a few lines. The big thing about Aeris's appearance was that she actually WAS there. So all the FFVII fans had something to be happy about.

Random thought. If Kingdom Hearts was supposed to introduce a NEW fanbase, then why was Sora SFFed so bad? Unless you think a great deal of that new fanbase all decided to go play FFVII, and then decided that they like Aeris better? Just a random thought. I already know what some of the responses are going to be....
