Oh, and by the way. Its a shame Snake can't win, because MGS3 is better
than any game I can think of this generation. At least, one i've
played. Its tied with FFX for my favorite and possibly even higher on
my list! (its tough to do that, especially since FFX has Auron in it =P)
Anyone else agree? MGS3 owns.

On a brighter subject -- something that isn't discussing FFIX -- how
is Symphony of the Night? I'm in the process of acquiring it and
haven't had much playtime on it.
Pretty good. It reminds me of Super Metroid in that you have to explore a LOT if you want to get the inverted castle. It does a nice job of implementing an RPG-like level system, even if the game becomes ridiculously easy relatively quickly. The soundtrack is nice too.

I haven't played FFXI either. But yes, all the others you listed are
far better than FFIX -- the only bad game in the numbered series.

You played FFII lately? or FFVIII?
FFVIII is among the best of Final Fantasy game, but I did forget about FFII, admittedly.
FFV would like to have a word with you.
The other FF I haven't got around to playing.
What do you have against FFIX?
The only character I liked from the game was Vivi. I felt the others were terribly boring, the story was rather lackluster, and I was rather indifferent to the kind of mixing they did between the old school FF and new school FF. What I did like about the game, other than Vivi, was the music. I thought it had a nice soundtrack.

HM, characters make games for you, huh? it seems like if there's no good character, it's not a good game.
I like FF9 characters just fine, a lot more than FF6 or FF7 or FF8. Kuja > all FF villains and Zidane's not bad. and Quina rules.

Fair enough. I feel the same way about Final Fantasy VIII except for the old school/new school thing. The characters were either boring, or just plain stupid. The story was HORRIBLE except for the Laguna part, and even that got kind of ridiculous (i.e. the way he got to be President of Esthar). There were a bunch of ideas that were randomly thrown in the game in an attempt to be different, yet none was done exceptionally well except for the Junction system. And the music was lackluster at best, and I'm a HUGE VG music buff.
