Admittedly, an all Nintendo/Square bracket would be sacrificing a lot
of strength for no reason. However, the cap should definitely be
extended so that at least half of the bracket can be made up of
Nintendo and Square characters if it means taking out a bunch of crap.

The only time I've said that is in bigger matchups that don't deal with absolute fodder. Being associated with Nintendo or Square is more than likely going to put you over characters like CATS, Gordon Freeman, etc. By expanding the cap to 14 for each, it creates at least half the bracket to be filled with characters that would not be fodder.
That isn't to say that all Square and all Nintendo characters are strong. But to say that you can't come up with four more characters from each company that wouldn't be above fodder is just ridiculous.

Nintendo and Square are clearly more well liked. That shouldn't be hard
to come up with, especially since the 2k3 bracket (our most popular
contest to date, btw) was about half Nintendo/Square. There's a cap,
for god's sake, that only applies to those two companies because
without it they'd, you guessed it, take up half the bracket.

I just have an odd feeling the bracket's not going to be all that much
different, character wise, than previous years. Some guys will go up in
seeding, some guys will go down, and the few new characters will just
be mere fodder for the Top 3 or 4 seeds.

I think the only way we'll ever be seeing an FFIV character in this thing is with the abolition of the company cap, or at the very least a much more liberal use of it (as in about 15-20 or so). It's unfortunate, but right now I'm hoping for geno above all.
Those Terra nominations are also good. I'd imagine that if she makes it in (which is looking likely at this point) she'll be between kefka and knuckles in strength.

Personally, I think a week is plenty of time. Usually I finish my
bracket the first day then make last minute changes. A week is the same
as a month to me, except if we only get a week we actually get less
time to overanalyze it, and it's a little less pedictable.

Given the voting habits of people on GameFAQs I would take Terra over
Kefka. Frankly, nominations are a period where fanboys shine but
outside of that it's down to other factors... and one of those factors

There are still many people to take into account that don't frequent
this board. Giving one week isn't nearly enough time for everyone to
enter a bracket, much less one that has a chance at actually winning.
