And if you read my following post, I reasoned that he would face a true elite because he'd get in as fodder seed, thus him getting killed. Now for this match, I would also take Zelda. I have Vincent pegged at 28% on 2k3 Link. Now, given that I don't like him, I'm probably underestimating him, so bump that up to 30% and you have him dead even with Zelda, and I take Zelda.

By "just as ridiculous", I was comparing HM's "Vincent challenging Mario" statement with RPGuy's "getting his face smashed in in the first round" one. I think Vincent would be pretty strong, however, I think he'll be weaker than Aeris and I don't think he's ever going to be challenging Mario.

Square directly recognized Vincent's popularity. They've found that it's so high that the redesigned Cloud to look like Vincent in KH (and the first year that Cloud came out looking like that he won the contest) and they are giving Vincent his own game because they realize that they did him a great injustice by not elaborating on his story. He's so damn popular that he's getting his own game, and he plays a rather large role in BC as well, not that we'll see it here. I'm not sure how that fails to register with you guys. Face it, even as an optional character Vincent was so popular with FF7 fans that Square is taking every oportunity to increase his role in everything FF7 related.

That's exactly why no one wants to even consider it. Because that just "isn't right" or is "disgusting." Well, I'm here to inform these choice people that it does not matter how wrong, or right, it may be for Vincent to hang with Mario but I see no reason for it not to happen after his own game and the movie.

HM, you're being worse with Vincent than Vlado is with Tifa. I almost hope the Vincent gets put against Sephiroth in the first round...

Where am I being ridiculous? If Vincent got in this year, I've said that he would be around Magus's level, which is hardly ridiculous at all.

Next year is when I said he could hang with Mario. And how is that insanity after he gets his own game focused entirely around him and Advent Children? It isn't like I'm calling a new champion.

Only 64.96% of GameFAQs had even beaten FFVII at the time of that poll. Now, damn near everyone knows who Cloud, Sephiroth, and Aeris are, even if they haven't played the game. Tifa, probably, Vincent, not so much. If three quarters who beat FFVII got Vincent, that means just under 50% of the site knows who he is.

Now, that's obviously flawed, as I'm betting more people have played FFVII since then, people could of heard about Vincent from other sources, and I have absolutely no way of knowing how many people got Vincent. But it's something to think about.

You people will not get it through your heads that being optional is not going to affect Vincent the way you like you to believe. This isn't some random game that has been out for a year or two. This is the most popular game with a huge FAQ listing and has been out for nearly a decade. I'm having to constantly repeat myself in order to drill this into your heads.

Vincent is almost always a solid third when it comes to PC character liking.

Why is it that everyone is so deadset on making horrible comparisons like this? FFVII is above anything here at GameFAQs. Using Pac-Man or Kuja as comparison are just absurd. It isn't as though Vincent only has recognition either, but there seems to people thinking that he's not known by the masses. Which is nothing short of ridiculous.

Vincent is by far the character that has the largest range. I can see him ranking anywhere from Magus to Yoshi. I personnaly believe Vincent vs Master Cheif would be a MOTY type of match.

Ooh, I say screw company caps and give us a Nintendo/Square tournament. The majority of the ridiculously popular polls have included these companies (Starcraft/Halo is the only one that comes to mind to have neither), and if we keep throwing around practically every FFVII character at or above 25% on the X-Stats, why are we wasting time with Ryo and Guybrush and Lara, just for the sake of diversity, when we can create a much more anticipated tournament both from unpredictability and voter turnout?

All N/S would be as bad as a cap. You're cutting out too many good characters. All that really needs to be done is to have the cap removed and to avoid allowing in cahracters that are obvious fodder, even if they have the noms to take a slot...

Of course, every 15 and 16 is a decided loser, so I guess it doesn't matter who takes up those last 8 slots.

The problem is that a lot of character that would have contest strength don't have any nominations strength, even within S/N. I don't think Cid (FFVII) is getting into the contest anytime soon, but I'm fairly certain he'd beat Ramza, who made it in without a cap.

This is what I think about the garbage characters:

*Characters that lose round 1 twice in a row with 30% or less of the vote should be barred for 2 years. Seriously, these cult and losing characters have to go.
*Characters that lose in round 1 more than 3 times in a row should also be barred for 2 years...if you can't win, forget everything.
