in regards to Vincent, he's an optional character. heck, I've only gotten him once. he might do well just because he's from ff7, but I can think of a million other guys to nominate.

I have no idea who Manny Calivera is, but I can nominate him. I'll probably nominate Terra as well, though the supposed Square cap makes me not want to. you can make the same "sure, moogles are cute, but they're not that important" argument in regards to Vivi as well and he'd rock Zidane. (though Vivi did play a larger role) Terra is a lifeless, useless and stupid character to me.

I always thought FF2 got the bulk of the hate between 2 and 3. FF2 for NES is absolutely awful, but the remakes (I've only played the swan one, but I imagine the ps1/gba ones are the same) are way better. I'll take 2 over 3, at least until 3 gets the typical Square remake.

besides, we all know ff8 is the worst of the bunch. <duck>

my list: ff1 > ff9 > ff4 > ff10 > ff7 > ff6 > ff2 > ff3 > ff5 > ff8.

In all honesty, I kind of liked Laguna. If he was the main character, I probably have much better feelings about FFVIII. Still wouldnt like it because I hate the battle system and the universe in general.

But I probably wouldnt of broken Disk Four in two halves and then burned it so it could not harm the children of the world and cause cancer to little orphans.

Edward does take the cake as the most useless character ever created by man.

He randomly causes negative effects (pretty rare) on the enemy if you sing to it and he uses up your potions to heal people. Plus he is weak and they force you to use him when you already have an extremely weak Summoner to take care of.

Well, you'll find that I never stated that FFVIII was perfect nor did I state it was the best of anything. The only person you would find saying that in this topic is Leonhart.

I do agree that the whole twist you described was rather... stupid. But it doesn't make me loathe the game like some of you seem to do. It is just one of the reasons that FFVIII isn't among the best of Final Fantasy. However, it was a good game. I particularly enjoyed the Junctioning System -- it had notable flaws, of course, but it was fine -- and a few of the characters were incredible. Squall and Laguna were both amazing, at least if you asked me. Not the best characters or the best heroes, or whatever, but great nonetheless.

Bowser - expected 66.96% against Kefka

Using all SC2K4 numbers:
Solid Snake - expected 65.58% against Kefka

Bowser's expected to beat Solid Snake with 52% if Kefka and Solid Snake remained constant over the past year and Bowser retained his strength from this Spring Contest...

heh, my old best friend got stuck on cd4 and had to start over because he didn't know you could draw GFs from bosses and was level 100 because he likes levelling up, or had he really drawn any good magic. that game was hopeless.

I'd like to give ff8 a second chance someday, but I've been saying that for years. maybe it's better than I remember.

Once you understand all its quirks (leveling = bad, etc) it gets a lot better. those quirks never stop being completely stupid, but the game getrs better once you can play it the way it was meant to be played.

I need to update my FF rankings:

FFVI > FFIV > FFIII > FFIX > FFVII > FFV > FFI > FF II > FFX > FFVIII

You're the first person I've seen who has the largest amount of agreement with me. I haven't played FFIII and FFV, but my ranking is

FFVI > FFIV > FFVII > FFVIII > FFIX > FFI > FFII > FFX > FFX-2

The only differences (among common games) are the 7-8-9 trio.
