Summer 2005 Contest Stats and Discussion Guru Contest

Most people know how this works, but in case you forgot, here's a quick reminder.

-The Guru Contest is essentially a gigantic sig bet. You sign your name on the list, and after the Summer 2005 Contest ends, the user with the highest score is honored in everyone else's sig for two weeks. Everyone has seen the yoblazer sigs by now, and that's because he won the Spring 2005 Guru Contest. Please don't sign up unless you actually plan on honoring the winner. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, and it can't exactly be enforced, but please don't break the honor system.

-After the brackets are locked down (which usually happens the night before the contest starts), I'll post a topic with the signup list and give a time limit for getting your brackets posted depending on what the bracket looks like. If the first few matches are a joke, you can expect the topic to be open for 2-3 days. If they aren't, expect 2 days at the absolute most. If you don't sign up, you're not in the contest. Don't bother asking for late entry or posting your bracket in the topic anyway, because it won't matter.

For the love of all that is holy on this earth, write down your tiebreaker. It disappears shortly after the lockdown phase begins. We know. That's why you need to write it down and record it somewhere. The last thing we need is to wait on CJayC to give us final results in the result of a massive tiebreaker, because as everyone knows, the average timeframe of a CJayC task being completed can be anywhere between 5 minutes and 3 years.

-The signup list is restricted to the stats topic. Do not make another topic advertising the Guru Contest; if you do, you'll be disallowed from participating, and those who signed up in the separate topic may be disallowed as well. Ngamer64 does enough work on this thing as is with it just restricted to the stats topic, and though most people know of the Guru Contest and will sign up anyway, leaving it here is a bit of a tradition.

-For those curious about how this whole thing got started, there was an argument in the stats topic during the 2003 offseason between Shake and ChichiriMuyo that eventually resulted in a sig bet on the Summer 2004 Contest. Things just grew from there.
